Flat rock is cool. Sold my bike before making spider mountain. Everyone seems to love it though

Problem I have with spin cycles is the pedaling feels more up and down than circular. I prefer a real bike and Zwift with a smart trainer that replaces the rear wheel is the only way to go in my opinion. I mostly free ride on it.

I have a Proform Le Tour de France bike. I was able to buy a new one off of Facebook for $350. New they go for about $1700. Couple things I like better than the Peloton is that is automatically adjusts resistance and angle as you are riding. I don't ride the studio classes much and prefer to do the trail rides where they take you on mountain bike trails and the bikes resistance adjusts due to hills etc. The Nordic track bike is similar, but has a bigger screen etc.
It does run on the ifit app which could be better, but it works for what I want it for.
At times it does have a glitch where it will tilt all the way down, you can get it to readjust, but it takes 30 seconds or so to get it to fix itself. The touch screen is not real responsive and is not the largest or highest resolution. If I were buying new I would probably look at the Nordic track.
My wife has a Peloton treadmill. Those things are real expensive, but it is obviously much higher quality than my bike. I like the ride type of my Proform bike, but I believe the Peloton is a better quality bike. From what I've seen, the Nordic track maybe the best of both worlds for me.

Thanks for all the input, as I sit here drinking a beer which I shouldn’t be doing I ordered the bike. Will be here Tuesday and then it’s on. I will have no more excuses to get my cardio in. I’m looking forward to it and will use this to get me in summer shape faster and more fun ..hopefully. Lol

I’ll keep you updated on the experience.

    cheers

Nice thing about a Peloton is you are more likely to use it because it is as addicting as it expensive. The more you ride it, the more you'll love it, good luck!

this. if you already have a road bike, why buy a spin bike? zwift is super engaging. plenty of built in workouts. lots more to be found on the interwebs or create your own. if your own a competitive mood, join a race. or a group ride.

if i could, i would just ride outside all the time but when i can't, due to snow or days like today where the wind is 30+, zwift makes it work.

For the price of the pelaton you could just buy a stationary bike + an audible subscription, listen to books while you pedal. Then also have money for a gym membership to add weight training in as well. If you have had better health with a pelaton, great, but the price is ridiculous. Its like buying drip coffee at starbucks, same exact thing is available at 7-11 but you dont get the same cup

I do have a couple road bikes and I’ll definitely ride when the snow melts. Love my road bikes and I’ve used them with fluid trainers and rollers, love rollers btw! But wanted something different since I’m in a rut right now. The cost is a little steep but that’s okay if I can get my ass on the saddle and get in decent shape. As far as the cost, it’s nothing compared to the bikes we can buy these days, lol. If I don’t like the experience, keep an eye out for a like new Peloton, lol.

Have been hearing about Echelon as a more affordable option.

It's spending that much for a form of exercise equipment when less expensive options are available that drives one to use them. It's a lot easier to look at a $100 piece of equipment your not using than if you had spent thousands. The guilty feeling of spending that much and not using it is what motivates people to use it.

I got one a few months ago. I do single track biking and transition to the peloton was difficult as there’s no incline/decline motion, but after getting use to it. It is nice being able to ride in the winter. It does cost a pretty penny, but is nice being able to have it sync with heart monitor devices and look at my stats spread over time.

Slightly different animal, but my $40 used Schwinn Airdyne from the 80s is built like a tank and I can do long distance conditioning or HIIT, and it works upper body as well.

I think they have gone overboard. I usually get a Pike just for the caffeine. Nasty as can be but gets the job done.

+1 for Zwift. I'm using a TacX Flux S with my 29'er hardtail mtb (lol, it does work fine with it). A friend bought the same Flux for him and his wife and love it. I have about 700 miles on it with no problem, my friend's probably has over 1,200 on it since they both use it. Just make sure you buy the same cassette as on your bike. Doesn't need to be, but shifting will feel the same then, and derailleur alignment should stay same between wheel and trainer when you switch.

Initial price is pretty high, but I'm also in snow country and it's so awesome getting to ride indoors in the winter. Also the stats, different 'world's you ride in, and they even have organized races on it make it fun rather than just a trainer and watching a tv. There are a few UCI replicated courses as well.

If you have any buddies that have it already, or would get it, it is a blast riding with friends. My friend mentioned before lives in Arizona, we use Discord to talk and then Zwift lets you join off of people. It's like as if we were riding next to each other in real life but across the country!

You'll find this out soon enough, but the Power Zone classes are where it's at. Do your FTP test, and your screen will fill in your power zones where you just follow the instructor's queue when he calls out which power zone to be in. I like the classes because there's no guess work when it comes to what you're supposed to be doing. Your power is quantified on screen as is your resistance and cadence which allows you to easily follow along.

It’s installed and been ridden. The quality of the bike is surprisingly good. Very solid, smooth and the adjustments are good. One exception is you can not move the bars back and forth, only up and down, okay because it fits me well but I could see a problem for some. The first class was fun, didn’t try to kill my self but overall did well, was a great workout.

it takes a couple weeks for my legs to strengthen while cycling along with getting my ass saddle calloused, lol. That being said the saddle is okay, should be just fine after I’m settle in. Won’t be adding one of my road saddles.

Ah yes, the old saddle calloused ass. Takes me a week or so as well. First ride in a while hurts, then it settles in. My legs are killing me right now because I ran for the first time in about 3 months on Monday. Been riding my bike, but the different muscles are aching. Did a little recovery ride and some foam rolling today and they are loosening up.
