First Truck Looking for AfterMarket Installer

Purchased my first truck yesterday. Stopped by at CarToys in Plano to get a quote to install a radio (Halo9 ifxl259), backup camera (echomaster pcam-dpllp-n) and potential front camera AudioVox ACA800 with 4year complete warranty - 2200$ before taxes and Remote start with Security Clifford (DERSS9756) with installation 800$. As i am new to the truck world i asked them for their most economical recommendation and those are the numbers- are these systems so pricey to have them installed ? are these numbers considered economical in the truck world ?

Any recommendation for local shop in DFW area that i can start going to them regularly.

 

Is this something you want someone to install for you or do you mind doing it yourself?

 

I am not sure how complex it is to be to do it as DIY. I have never done any DIY in a car/truck before.

 

Same here but I just learned as I go and it's pretty fun. I'm not confident enough to touch like suspension but electrical, I'm good with.
Also, there's companies that sell "Plug and Play" kits so it also helps with that.

You can DIY alarm/remote start plug and play in 30 minutes max for around $200.00......very simple install.

I installed the Fortin remote start offered by Tech12Volts a few weeks ago. It took me about 1 hour, but I was doing this in my driveway in Central NY with temps around 30, so I was being slow and careful so I wouldn't break any plastic clips on the panels in my truck. If I were in Dallas, I could probably cut about 15-20 mins off of the timeframe. Everything was easy to install and works as advertised. Costs about $200. This forum has DIY guides for installing this remote start, head units and backup cameras as well. Just do a little search. Then, you can look at the guides and see if you are handy enough to DIY.

 

I installed the Compustar remote. The hardest thing was removing the screws on the plastic steering column.

 

As others have said, the tech12volts remote start is plug and play. Not sure if he has one for a 2007 but shoot him a message and he will help you out. Also, if you were to buy your headunit off of crutchfield they offer to create the wiring harness for you making the halo plug and play as well. Then its just a matter of running the camera wires.

Also for less than $2,200 I’m pretty sure Tech12v can get you set up with a completely new sound system and remote start too
