I had a high pitch whine coming from 2016 Sequoia, when I first started it up, only when really cold out (ambient temperature around zero to 10 degrees), It was the tranny, whining, less than a minute, because Toyota W.S transmission fluid is NOT Synthetic, so when its really cold out,it doesn't flow as good as Synthetic, so the front pump or converter (or both)are straining to pump that cold thick fluid thru the tranny. I drained it , pulled the pan, put new filter,(always use Toyota parts) since I was in there,( was only 40,000 on it, clean)then filled it with Amsoil-Low Viscosity A.T,F. Was a little bit of a pain, without a dipstick ,nowadays, but just research it, for the info. I used a Scan-Gauge to check the tranny temp. need to pull the check-level bolt at 104 degrees, for the proper amount of A.T.F on a 2016, same tranny a Tundras. I haven't hear a sound since, and the tranny runs cooler now, synthetic oil can dissipate heat better, and doesn't break down at higher temps. like conventional (mineral based) A.T.F.
