Good day all/ I'm looking for a forward facing, behind rear seat, subwoofer enclosure for two 10" shallow mount subs (4 3/8" mounting depth) for my audio build. Does anyone know of anything I can order online? I may have to just have my install guy build a custom box, but if there is a way to save money on this I'd like to. I have a 2008 Tundra and am having a hard time finding something. I'd prefer to have a ported enclosure for my low end desires:)

I had two second gen Tundras in the past both with aftermarket sub enclosures behind the seat. My favorite was a Pre built ported pro box for two 10" JL w3 subs in it. I recommend adding poly fill to box to make the sub perform like it's in a larger enclosure.

They will go behind the rear seat. I was reading that ported boxes get a deeper tone. Since I'll already get punch with 10" woofers I figured I go with ported to help the low end.

This is the amp I bought just for the subs/ I know there is better but I'm on a budget.

You said you went with sealed? How does it sound? Do you feel like you get a full sound? What sealed box are you using?

I would suggest the ported box in the tundra over a sealed since the box has miniminal cubic air space it will help the subs perform closer to their specs. I like sealed enclosures better but in the tundra it's difficult to get enough air space with a box behind the rear seat.

Yes/ they are single coil/ That's what I wondered about the ported box for this truck! Thank you for your responses!

JL Audio makes a stealth box enclosure with a single 8"w7 sub and bass knob. I had that on my 2010 Tundra. It was impressive for a single sub but very expensive at $750!

Yikes! 750?! They make REALLY high quality subs though so I bet it punched hard for it's size:broccoli:

The one in the picture you posted is $150. I've had that one bookmarked for a while, but I'm not ready to pull the trigger.

Good to know. I've got 2 Alpine Type R 12's currently in a sealed box that won't fit in my truck. I need to measure them to see if they will fit in that box.

I'm going to try and rip apart my factory sub box to get to the speaker, then just roughly wire up my amp and current box using a LOC off the sub to see how it sounds. If it's worth it, then I'll pull the trigger.
    I miss my sound system.

looks like they might be 6 3/8-inches, which won't quite fit in that box :(, but I'll eventually pull them and measure myself.

    edit: spacers might work....

Another problem is I have is it looks like the whole back wall panel behind my seat is molded into the sub box. If I remove that I'll have to look into getting a flat panel to replace it.

It sure seems like it's a good fit behind the seat. If you get one, let me know what you think!

Wow, one click is good! Looks like it fits well behind the seat. Did you secure it or does the top of the back seat keep it in place?

    Thanks Gino
I think I'm going to have to stick to the box on page 1(post #6), with some spacers.

So - I have a 2 gen with the JBL system. I'd like to run aftermarket subs but that factory sub is there. Any suggestions?

I've been thinking that... even asked Crutchfield for the sub which they gave me. Thought there may be some differing options as I'm an oldschool Audio head
