Been through massive strokes with a mother and a mother in law. One question. What does your DAD think you should do? If he is mentally competent it really is and should be his decision. Do you also have documentation that she is not competent (and does shave had powers of attorney, etc. in place? Doing something against someone's wishes can get very dicey and worth speaking with an attorney ...FWIW you are going to have to have some stuff in place to do her taxes etc. )

Sorry you are going through this. It is very tough.

@grannynancy yes I'm poa on everything. My dad is mentally competent but not enough to make decisions. He is unable to pay bills remember to take his meds etc. That being said I have involved him throughout the process and while he would prefer her to be with us but he understands the reality and has said he is leaving the decision to me. Also I have hired an attorney as I had to get her approved for medicaid and at the same time pre plan for dads eventual need for medicaid

This is a very tough situation. Very sorry to hear about this. My dad passed away at 54 due to multiple strokes. Fortunately for us he was never negative towards us or the situation. I will keep you in my prayers and I hope everything works out for you amd your family.
