Almost 2 years ago i bought a set of 2017 headlights to retrofit. I held off on retrofitting, debating if i wanted 18+ lights or retrofit. A few months ago @1UPPER was selling his very custom retrofit lights that needed a little work. I picked them, and last weekend he gave me a hand with opening up both sets of lights so the guts of his lights could be transferred to the 17 lights i had. We learned the main reflector bowl is almost impossible to remove from the housing, so we were not able to transfer that. This weekend i finished up painting the main reflector and resprayed the turn signal reflector so i can reassemble the lights.

Made some progress on the retrofits today. Got the passanger side projector mounted in and enlarged the holes for all the wires to run thru. Was not able to finish the driver side, as i scratched the painted reflector bowl and exposed some chrome. I would have repainted it today, but it felt like 100% humidity today. I am not going to close the lights up until i wire them up and test everything and check that the cut offs are level and are similar to the stick lights.

Had some time finally to work on the headlights. Got the passanger side RGB lights fully working and tested the switchbacks.

    20190724_202242.jpg
Had to rebuild the connectors on the RGB and make a Y-cable for the switchbacks

Headlight build is done! That was a lot of work and time.
Started early this morning at 5:30, so i got to use the KC cyclone lights i have in the engine bay
    20190825_060546.jpg
Started off with confirming alignment from 25-30 feet away and testing the DRL switch backs, then moved on to testing the RGBs one more time before i pull the lights to seal them up.
    DRL only
    20190825_072132.jpg
    Projector and blinker

    RGBs and blinker
    20190825_073232_021_saved.jpg
Then began the process of sealing the lights up and installing. Sorry, no photos during the sealing, was focused on insuring the butal warmed up enough and the lens seated into the channel properly.
Here is the finished front end

Replaced the chrome mirror caps with black plastic ones. Down to the door handles to replace.

Also installed the NSV dash cam. Wired it to the sunroof motor for constant power and ability to record when the truck is off. The screen flips up and the unit is 98% hidden behind the mirror when driving

My one and only black Friday purchase is sitting in the garage. Now to save for the LSD and cost for install.

Thanks! I am running 24 of the large pod, mine are the first gen which were 6 or 8 watt units with 4 rows of 6 leds. the new large pod is listed as 9 watt and has 6 RGBW led chips, which helps with color blending and a wider spread of the light. I have 1 of the new 9 watt pods sitting in the garage, likely going to order 1 more pod for symmetry and another controller to replace the last IR/bluetooth controller I have with the newer RF/Bluetooth controllers. Since you are are on a 7" lift, you have a lot more distance between the wheel well and the tire and to the ground, so you will get good coverage with the 12 piece. I am on 2.5" front,1" rear lift, so I went crazy to have light coverage.

Thanks for getting back to me. U got a ton of lights man lol. The glow must really look sweet in person, i know the pics arent doing any justice. I think I’ll be okay with 12, but the diagram allows for 16 on one controller right? Or am i looking at it wrong?

You are correct, you can have up to 16 lights on 1 controller and i did that for a while before i added 8 more lights.
Here is a pic from a camping trip back in September. It is hard to capture just how bright they are.

That looks epic! Did too much spending on black friday (full stereo, ‘19 LEDs and fogs, and bakflip tonneau), but my next mod will be this. You’ve officially convinced me. Gonna start with 12, and may add 4 if there are dark spots i dont like

I got most from a guy in DFW that was selling an unbranded version of the Infinite Offroad 6w large pods. I had issues with the controllers and replaced with the Infinite RF ones. The rest of the pods are Infinite offroad 6w units. As I add more I will be getting the newer 8w model

But when I backed up from the wall, the Fogs were shining above the headlight cutoff line

I adjusted them down a little, but looking at the beam in the fog it may be a hair low now

Got lucky today and picked up a used matching tire from Discount tire for $100. It has a little more tread than my current tires. Just wish I could get a matching 5th wheel, but Method discontinued the machined finish Standards.

Dropped the truck off last week for the install of 5.29 gears, Auburn LSD and polyurethane steering rack bushings. Just got the truck back last night and already have 50 miles on it. Still going very easy on the pedal and gears as I am in the break in period. I reached out to DAP this morning to see if I need to have the shift point of the tune adjusted for the gears. At 70mph I am running just below 2300rpm

Ordered the LRA 46 gallon gas tank yesterday, was a little more than the Transferflow tank, but i like the bevels at the front and back, should be here next week, then to recruit a friend to help install

Invited a couple friends over to give me a hand with installing the LRA tank. Luckly one of them is going thru his mechanic certification, so he knew about the fuel line clips and had the tool to spin off the fuel pump lock ring. All total took about 5 hours. Now i have 46 gallons of range.

It was not bad, we just took our time. It took a while to drill the frame for the front support bracket. The factory hole used for the bracket was covered by my sliders plate, so I had to drill thru that 1/4" plate too. Getting the fuel line reconnected to the fuel pump was a pain, we had to do it by feel and take photos with our phones to confirm the plastic clip was seated and locked in. The small vent hose that goes back up to the gas cap was 4 inches short, so we ran up to auto zone for a longer hose. We also took a 20 minute break to eat. It was $1900 shipped, the transferflow would have been $1850 shipped. I preferred the beveled front and rear of the LRA tank on the bottom side.

Ordered some Baja Designs lights the other day from Paul at BD. Swapped the lenes for the amber driving combo. They are to replace the crappy amber lights that came in my grille.

Got the grille removed and the lights replaced. Having the circuit breaker for auxiliary fuse box makes it quick to kill power to the lights.

Drove the camper 800 miles to Navarre Florida for a mini isolation vacation on the beach. This was the first long stretch towing since installing the 529 gears. Truck pulled well, was able to run in 5th on the highway since i only have 34" tires. My rpms in 5th is almost identical to 4th gear with stock gears. Trans temp stayed around 197 the entire way.

Got a little dirt on the tires today finally. Took my 2 year old son with me and he fell asleep 10 minutes into the adventure

Yep, I would say I have not done much in the last 2 years since the little one was born, but I just looked thru my build thread and realized all what I have done - headlights, sliders, gears, gas tank, more lights
