I recently purchased my preowned truck and noticed the factory "skid plate" or splash guard is missing. A new factory splash guard costs around $300. I could go try and pull one at a scrap yard but was looking at this RCI skid plate option. Obviously I don't do much off roading but there can be some dips that will sneak up on you if you are not familiar with the area. Seems pretty exposed down there with nothing.

So my question is: has anyone installed an RCI skid plate on a 4x2? I have searched and not seen anyone who has done this. All 4x4 people for obvious reasons. I even called RCI and they guy said he didn't know if it would fit and to check the internet. So maybe someone here can advise me on this whole skid plate question for my 4x2. It's also a 4.7L V8 if that makes a difference.

I emailed victory 4x4 and their skid plate fits a 4x2.

That's a great looking combo, do you happen to know the RCI part number?
I ask because RCI has told me they have nothing that will fit my '07 4x2.

Wow I love this forum! Thank you for the quick and useful responses. How are you liking your RCI, Rica? The truck looks sick. Did you lift it?

They told you it would not fit? There is only one for the Tundra 07-20 they manufacture, steel or aluminum.

Yep, I think the people answering the phone at RCI need some training in customer service.

There is nothing different in the front frame wise between the 4x4 and 4x2.

This. The mounting points off that skid plate should be the same.

No problem. Well looks like RCI customer service needs more knowledge about there skid plates because they told me it wont fit 4X2 also.

Maybe I should go with the victory? Any opinions on differences between the RCI and Victory?

Seems like both are good quality. Victory might be alittle more that RCI. Are you going aluminum?

I was thinking steel because it's cheaper. Aluminum might be better for my truck because MPG but the cost increase on the aluminum plate is fairly significant.

Aluminum is only $50 more. And raw aluminum looks awesome

It is $85 more on RCI and $80 more for Victory 4x4. I am still leaning toward the aluminum because of the weight though.

Well... I ended up ordering one of these. It is made by Toyota, aluminum, less expensive than even the RCI steel, and looks nice. I have not located any threads on this specific skid plate. It's not the TRD.

Just installed the RCI engine skid, Transmission skid and both aluminum black powder coated and the steel fuel tank skid for the 38 gal tank.
Everything bolted up just fine other then had to purchase a couple pieces of mounting hardware that was shipped wrong.

Oh how I wish I had that 38 gallon tank. That is probably the number one option I wish I had.
