I got the TRD Off Road package on my 2020 SR5 and it comes with push start and dual zone automatic climate control.

Apple CarPlay/Android Auto is available in 2020 models. For me that was a key feature. Don't like putting aftermarket head units in newer vehicles. Very happy with integration of CarPlay

One difference that stands out, the MSRP sticker price for what some call the 3rd generation Tundra is quite a bit higher than the early 2nd generation trucks.

Rough Country wheel to wheel steps 7) Pioneer 8400 NEX Wireless ApplePlay 8) Backup Camera: e-raptor 9) LED white lights replaced in headlights, fog lights, inside cabin, and exterior lights 10) Linex (unbranded by Central Texas Truck Coatings) 11) OEM Toyota side panels and generic panel on tailgate Maintenance/Repairs: 1) Valve covers, belt tensioner, alternator belt - $415 2) Evaporation fuel canister and filter replacment $1547 *This was a Toyota TSB for 07-08 AFAIK. Not bad at all. 3) Pioneer Unit - had to ship to Pioneer to replace Output IC - $45 (shipping) free under 1 year warranty fix 4) Pioneer Unit - Electrical feed back coming through speakers when accelerating. Fix was to check all wiring/tighten up/ make connections good again $42. 5.) Rear passenger door actuator replaced. Part was $287 with tax on ebay from Toyota dealer free shipping. 6.) Rack and Pinion, tow mirrors, shocks install, lifetime alignment - $1884.36
This^. I was looking at the third gen, but didn’t want to lose the storage compartments up top. The sliding 2nd row is very cool for additional storage. I didn’t know they reclined another awesome feature! Do the third gens not have the mini storage compartments on the front doors?

    Alot of them
You sound like me. I went from a 2013 4.6 to a 2020 5.7. Losing the electric rear sliding window to a manual, losing most of the overhead console, and loss of the rear door pockets....WTF Toyota! They even went to a different headliner material.

Yeah, I'm going to stick with my DC. I've put too much money into it, between upgrades, repairs, and regular maintenance to turn back now. The mileage is almost at 238k. I was thinking about putting up for sale, but I didn't want to deal with all of the haggling b/c "bluebook says", when they aren't looking at all of the line-item repairs, maintenance, and upgrades. I have all of my service receipts saved in OneNote. Not expecting dollar for dollar match, but let's keep it fair.

I went back and forth on the CM 2nd and 3rd gen a lot. I'd rather have an "outdated" body and give up cosmetic stuff than to lose the functionality of the 2nd gen CM features. If somehow I do end up with a 2nd gen CM 4x4 these are the upgrades I'd do:
    • transferflow 46 gal fuel tank
    • trd front/rear sway bars
    • billstein 5100s all around
    • Apple Car Play headunit
    • 18 or 20 TSS wheels. 18's if I can get those TRD alloy wheels that are much lighter.
    • Falken AT3 33 inch tires or the Cooper Discovery XLTs
    • Camper shell if needed but most likely at this point. I love the idea of having the utility of storage back there. After reading some threads about the sequoia's lack of storage in the back behind the third row, and that other families rarely have friends or family driving with them, the CM with shell seems like a better overall solution. Can't make everyone happy huh Toyota?! :d

I realized my main issue was lack of cargo space in the DC cabin when it's full with people and the baby. The wife is slowly warming up to the camper shell for additional storage. Once I get one, I plan on making some basic wooden storage platforms to keep groceries and baby supplies in the back to free up the cab space. The only thing the CM still has over this setup is the additional cabin space for my dogs to come with us driving more out and about. Putting them in the bed isn't an option, and only one of them likes a kennel. The other 2 go into fullblown freakout mode. That's what we get for spoiling them!

Yup. Sounds like a plan. I will stick with my double cab as well

did you ever put the shell
On ? I did a backflip MX4. Keeps it looking like a truck. I know everyone is different tho. Glad to see people still love their 2nd gen as much as I love mine
