I’m running the OBD2 Fusion app and bought the extended PIDs. I have a 2017 Tundra CM Limited ORP and a 2019 Tundra CM SR5 ORP. I’ll be trying to get the app to work with both my 2017 and my 2019. I’m am the furthest thing from knowledgeable about this stuff... just reading here on Tundras.com and figuring things out as I go with the help of some of the more knowledgeable folks. Here’s the dashboard for my 2017:

Have you paired it with the scanner in the truck yet?

Current setup for 2018 Tundra. Working on the gear display and torque converter status to show when converter is locked up (thanks tacoma world for ideas).

    That's a lot of reading!

Has anyone been able to get a custom pid for the 2019 trucks foe the TC temps. I have one for the pan temp that I know works. I have access to Techstream so I can test and make sure the number is accurate.

I want this for my 2020. Any of those custom pids. Can you export that to a drop box and I'll try it?

Ok guys so went to the shop and got it half working. I didn’t create a new dashboard yet for the 2019 but I’m going to try. I was getting data, but I kept having to reconnect to the scanner every 2 minutes in the 2019. I didn’t have any of the disconnect issues in the 2017. But here’s the screen - I left my trailer hooked up for this - probably weighs 4500# or so right now since I don’t have everything in it on the weekends. But it was snowing out, 27 degrees and the roads weren’t the best so wasn’t able to really work the drivetrain much. It’ll be interesting to see how much difference that makes because once I’m loaded down in tow-haul mode the truck is definitely working a lot harder than it was just now.713E1729-6B80-4E0B-A768-4F4DC51516FE.jpg

Yes. I paired them both. The temps on the 2017 were lower... coolant and transmission but that was empty so probably not a fair comparison.

Post up your pan temp pid setup and equation that is working.
Try this link, he shows all the settings/equations from Torque used for both trans temp readings and I think it was a 2019.

This is the pan temp (temp 1) equation that I'm using and I have verified it through the techstream.

    Screenshot_20200118-150653.jpg

I'm starting to think maybe my Elm obd2 adaptor could be the issue. I contacted Fussion dev and see what they say.

I've been searching for a way to read the engine oil temperature data ...

My understanding is that Tundra does NOT have a sensor and as a result, the ECU doesn't have the actual data either.

Anything that these apps (scangauge, ultragauge, other odb ii apps) read, must be estimated engine oil temp and not the actual value.

I am looking for a good spot to add a sensor besides the drain plug.

I just added the oil temp pid to my 2017 Fusion app dashboard. I’ll see whether it puts out significant different temps than the coolant and transmission fluid.

It's the strangest thing. My trans temp 2 started reading and it's actually correct. I used the same one you posted up. I was plowing snow today and the highest temp I saw for the pan was 205F.

Great, glad it started working. These transmissions definitely like to stay hot. It will be interesting to see the 2019 and 2020 temps during the summer.

One of the reasons I need the app is because I tow a 5.5K TT. I've been reading that the fusion app will allow you to see TC lock up?? Wouldn't mind a pid for that.

I am looking for that pid now too forsame reason. I found the gear number but none of the TC lockup status pids are showing data like the Tacoma guys have found.

So weird thing this morning - I decided to take the 2017 out to grab coffee. Started it up and on the way there all was fine. The app worked. Didn’t disconnect at all. Turn the truck off. Go in and get coffee. Come back out and turn it on and all the way home the OBD (Kobra) kept disconnecting every 45 seconds or so. It would reconnect and then drop again. Over and over. While it’s connected, the display is working fine. This was the same thing that had happened on my 2019 yesterday. Any ideas? I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app. Reset my network settings. Forgot the network and reconnected. No luck. Thx for any advice. BTW - using I Phone Max and Kobra quick scan too.

Get an android phone. Couldn't help myself. Before shutting down the truck try closing the app first. Does it still disconnect after you restart everything? Are you connecting through bluetooth le or just bluetooth?

Android... don’t I need like a Windows 7 computer to update it or something?

But ya. Apple seems to be less stable these days for sure. Buggy.

Im connecting through the WiFi... Kobra doesn’t do BT that I know of. Haven’t tried shutting down the app before shutting off the truck. Will try that... good idea. And yes, even when I restart everything it keeps disconnecting. Thank you for the idea... gonna figure this out. I LOVE the app. I’m a truck geek. :geek:

I found the Torque Converter lockup status pid and created a gear number/TC lockup gauge that lights up green when tc is locked.

Name of pid is "status of lock up" and "status of the shift status / 1st, 2nd," etc...

Here is my dashboard, green ring when tc is locked.

Can a scangauge be programmed manually? Unfortunately I cant see the equations and pid code for the advaced settings pack. I did read on a 4runner forum the prius pids have been extracted and many of them apply to other Toyotas. There is a csv file floating around with that info.

Here is the forum where i read about it.

This what I'm using for trans temps, found on this site.

    Transmission Temperature 1 - pan
    TXD: 07E02182
    RXF: 046105820000
    RXD: 2808
    MTH: 00090005FFD8
    NAM: TF1

Transmission Temperature 2 - Torque Converter output
    TXD: 07E02182
    RXF: 046105820000
    RXD: 3808
    MTH: 00090005FFD8
    NAM: TF2

Screwed up in my above post asking for a torque lock code, anyways I found this, says for all so I'll try it some time.

Gauge Current Gear (#) (torque lock)

So I downloaded Car Scanner and used it all day today... no connection issues. Tried fusion every which way (uninstalled, reinstalled, BT in, BT off) and it just doesn’t behave right with IOS 13.3, just continually drops and must be reconnected. It’s honestly eerily similar to the head unit reboot issue I had awhile back in how frequently it happens (and my frustration level as it persisted despite my best game fisted efforts at fixing the bug lol). But I actually even went to far as to reset all the network setting and everything else in my phone to no avail. I had seen another post of a guy having similar issues with IOS 11 and Fusion. So I gave up on Fusion for now... and am playing with Car Scanner... it seems to work fine but the dashboard I can set up aren’t quite as nice looking. No problem at all getting a refund for Fusion and the extended PIDs if anyone else wants to try it to see if it works... risk free.

Did you try loading the dash the jtwags sent you? Curious if all the enhanced pids work on your 2019.
