I hate having to use my iphone for this truck it has a map button why I don't know it does nothing at all. To me Toyota went cheap on this is my opinion.
I was wondering if there is something I could upgrade to that has navigation also with out using my phone and have a dvd players.. I'm old school, but no 8 track..

Also find someone to put it in lol..

Kenwood and Pioneer are the industry leaders. Pretty much neck and neck with each other. There are other great units out there, like Alpine and some of the Android brands but the safe bet it with Kenwood or Pioneer.

I can't really recommend any particular model though. Between just those two brands there's a lot of options and different combinations of features from model to model.

But if you can narrow it down to a couple in price range you like then I'm sure we can chime in on a few of them.

Try Crutchfield. You can put in your requirements, and the site helps you narrow down your search. I also found their phone support was helpful. The stock unit in my Corolla was going. I looked at the double DIN units and found one in my price range. I got one with a CD /DVD player as I like to get audio books from the library. One other suggestion. Crutchfield, for like $25 offer to send you a wiring set up that is an EXACT match for your car. Not splicing and connecting wires. Whether you do it yourself or pay someone, it is worth it. It makes the installation very neat and quick. I can't help you with installation in Texas. Maybe Crutchfield on someone here can.

I thanks you both for responding to my question.
I'M 64 and never looked for some thing like this tell you the truth. I made a mistake not looking this audio system over more it was after buying it I found out I had to use my iPhone hell I didn't know about this stuff.
What I'd like is a navigation, cd/dvd player, radio dose not have to be the best sound on this side of the sun, not sirusXM nothing that has to attach to my phone unless I want it to. I don't know what a DOUBLE-DIN, Digital multimedia receiver, INPUTS, KEY BUTTON COLOR, FACE FIXED, so stuff like that. So I don't want iPhone control because I'M getting rid of that I hate iPhones, I like google map that's okay I have had a Garmin for years when I traveled full time I wish it could connect to my radio I mean audio.
So I'll go study this and try to learn it or contact a company I didn't see toyota offering any thing more on there site, but they probably over priced lol.
as far as price I'd go up to $550 but I'd rather be lower..
    Thanks

I was confused at first. A single din is a thin radio....Like about 2 inches. A double din is about "double" the size.

I went with this: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_130501EX/Pioneer-AVH-501EX.html (for my Corolla XRS)

I got it around $249 and the Crutchfield Ready Harness Service (which I strongly recommend) is $25. With tax I was under $300.

To the point you made, I do not have sirusXM and it isn't attached to my phone and I don't have navigation as I have a Garmin I like, but it CAN be hooked up. It does have a CD / DVD player as I like to listen to audio books when I travel. I listen to the radio. I did buy a small thumb drive and backed up all my songs to that. Plug it in (instead of the phone) and I have all my music. I also do use the Bluetooth to take calls while driving.

Hope this helps a bit more.

I hit Map without my phone wired in and I get this. Factory head unit, personally I like it but I'm not an audiophile.

I went to the dealership today and they figured mine isn't working correctly..
They had made me believe I had to have my phone hooked up to it to get map this time
they said I didn't. I went into get my tags and a saleman asked how was I liking the truck.
I love the truck but the radio sucks they had three salesman and the owner looking at it.
So they have some district rep they are going to call to see what is wrong..
Hopefully they get it resolved thanks God I don't mind bitching..
