Should research "citizen" vs "Citizen" (note the capitalization). There's a whole movement to take back citizen sovereignty.

You're gonna have to enlighten me. I can't find anything on the difference been capitalizing it or not.

I'm only somewhat familiar with the sovereignty movement. As I understand it, it's a group of people who believe they are above the laws based upon cherry picked quotes, notations and laws from history. The thing these people fail to note is that there hasn't been a single case where one of them has gotten away with the crap they pull in the video. Just because someone doesn't agree with many (most?) laws, that doesn't make them exempt.

Yeah, it's kind of a mess. Most people have no idea what they're talking about and they get into more trouble because of it. Here are a couple of links that I scratched up from a search though. No idea about the quality of the info, but I'm sure you'll get the general gist of the argument.

    http://freeinhabitant.info/tax/are-you-a-ccitizen-or-are-you-a-ccitizen-only-one-must-pay-taxes.htm
    http://afreecountry.com/?q=citizen

You eventually get into where the US federal gov't has jurisdiction. Some people think the federal gov't only has jurisdiction in forts, bases, etc. You can definitely go down a ton of rabbit holes looking into this stuff.

My wife has had to deal with these self professed (pardon me-morons) more than a few times. She is an elected official (County Recorder) and mostly they will come in with some sort of document that they want to get legally recorded and on file in that county office. Their line of thinking is that once recorded as a legal document, then they can fall back onto what ever the wording states in said document. Her office will inspect every document to make sure it conforms to guidelines imposed by the state before actually accepting and recording their papers they present. Often, they will use the County Prosecutor's office for a legal opinion on whether it conforms and almost always they will NOT. It just shows how far some of these people will go in any attempt to follow their own twisted versions of laws already on the books

I saw a mountain man on an episode of Alaska State Troopers arguing with Trooper at a traffic stop that he didn’t need a driver’s license, registration or insurance. And that it didn’t matter that he was hammered because the Trooper didn’t have any authority since he didn’t recognize the state or federal government. I believe that stop ended with the Trooper offering to assist the guy in turning around for the cuffs too. Lol

I wonder what percentage of these people get sucked into this stuff, get all hyped up for an encounter with law enforcement, then get arrested and put in their place in court, then actually stick with this ideology? Seems like after they realize it's not gonna hold up in court they'd forget about all this nonsense, but I guess they're "smart" enough to believe it in the first place.

The whole sovereign citizen thing sure seems to veer off into the anarchy side of things a lot. Doing it to be rebellious or to get away with stuff. It's disappointing.

Then sometimes I think of all the money I paid for my Tundra, and how the dealer sent the original title to the state of Michigan per requirements for registration; who scanned it and destroyed it, and issued me a certificate of title in lieu of the real thing. That no matter how much I pay, no matter how many millions of dollars I offer, I will never ever own my Tundra because the property title cannot be produced upon request. That if I ever use my truck without paying their annual fee they can take it away at a moment's notice to sell at a profit.

Or that I can never have alloidal title to the house I live in. That there's no legal way to own the ground under my feet on "my own property," and if I don't pay their fee in whole, they can take it away at a moment's notice to sell at a profit. True story, just last year a man underpaid his property tax by $8 and the township immediately seized his home and property and sold it from under his feet.

There's a thousand different things we live with every day that fall into the same general category of dishonest social convention. The idea of the sovereign citizen used to be an effort to not live a lie. That we are born with inalienable rights, that government was contractually formed as a trust with the consent of the governed to preserve those rights for future generations, and the reason a human is sovereign is that he or she has free will that can be exercised under those rights. Nowadays most people don't even know what "rights" are so they don't notice when they're infringed upon.

And they think 'sovereign' means they can do whatever they want. Sigh

Interesting to read what the other side thinks Most the forums I hang out on are strongly libertarian, entirely different kind of comments there.

I'm pretty sure my last words are going to be "Am I being detained?" before I get killed in the battle of boogalishu.

They are not driving. They are "travelling". You get a better mpg when "travelling"... They must be environmentalist or own a Tundra. Either way, they must be very educated! :D

I didnt even think about politics when I posted it. D'oh! At least we're more legalities than politics at this point. As long as we keep it to making fun of weirdos, we'll be ok. :D
