Initially setting it up can be challenging regarding all the settings, etc. (you need to be a little tech-savvy and preferably have Android OS skills), but there’s a thread here called “Android Headunit” that’s 90 pages chock full of helpful posts on the unit, and there’s also a FB group dedicated to it called Toyota tundra-Tesla Unit(Tips,Tricks,Updates).

I didn't even know this items existed!!! I'm glad because sometimes I get a glare from the chrome around the cup holder. Time to spend more money.

Here is the video showing how to disassemble. There are 2 clips on the inside that you'll spread apart. While working on one clip try and slide your fingernail under the chrome ring to help keep it loose. Then slowly work your way to the other side.

Dont do it as quick as he does it. Take your time with taking it apart. Really pay attention to the pieces you're taking apart. Take photos. Make sure nothing falls out.

Just a FYI for anyone taking the 4x4 knob apart, there are a few small pieces I haven't seen shown anywhere that you need to be careful of. When you disassemble the switch, the middle portion has 2 little plastic 'pushers' with 2 springs beneath. This is what gives it the push to go to 4LO. Here's a pic of what I mean and where they go. I accidentally dropped that part and though I broke tabs off, but it was just the pieces falling out.

Here you can see the on the left I Ijust have the spring in, the right has the spring then one of the little pusher things on top of it.

They have a little grease on them so for most they will stay in, but just something to watch for. I was luckily able to find the second spring on my garage floor.

Also a smaller allen wrench (I think I used a 5mm), with the short right angle worked good for undoing the lower clip. Slide it through the OEM hole under the switch, first pulling up on it to disengage the clip and pull out, then do the top clip.

I know this is an old thread but is the 4x4 knob looser than it was for anyone else following install of a new 4x4 knob? Mine has a little wiggle in it but it works just fine.

Do you mean the fit of the knob in the dash piece, or the knob itself turning? If it's the whole knob in the daah piece I wonder if something got a little warped when taking it out. If you mean turning the knob itself I'd probably try taking it apart again and make sure everything is in the right place, it's kind of intricate in there.

In addition to the few photos in my above post here's one I had of it apart if it helps at all.

It’s more so the fit of the knob into the dash. It turns just fine and felt solid outside of the dash but for some reason the whole assembly is a little more loose in the dash that it was previously. I was able to get it out really easily so I don’t think I screwed anything up in that regard. It’s not like it moves when I’m driving and it goes into 4 high and low just fine so I may just leave it be unless it gets worse.
