4x4 doesn't disengage

I have a 2016 CM the traction control light does not turn off and my 4x4 doesn't disengage. Any one have this problem before. I have a 6" lift with 37s. My son took it to the dealership today. They said it could be because of the lift. I doubt it. It was professionally done. I had the lift installed 2 months after I bought the truck in 2016 1st owner. Suggestions?

Didn't do any crazy off-roading. I was up in the snow. On pavement, was doing a side job.

 

Don’t think it’s anyway the lift. If that’s the case why would so many lift for “off road” travel. This would be believable issues if every lifted truck had that problem. I think it is probably something to either do with the switch or the transfer case itself. Have you tried shifting while in neutral?

 

When was the last time you used 4WD?

 

To be properly maintained I think Toyota says to drive with the 4 wheel drive engaged for at least 8 miles a month. I don’t know about 8 miles but I engage it for a few miles a month.

The actuator can become siezed without occasional use and you end up in your situation. Could also be something else. Good luck!

 

Haven't tried in neutral. But I will today.

 

Last time was in December and on the 1st of January.

 

Possible ABS sensor issue. Make sure all the wires are hooked up to the sensors at each wheel.

 

It's 10 for my 2017.

I think you have to be under a certain speed too for it it engage/disengage?

 

Card says do it under 60 for 4hi
And stopped in 4lo

OP, also keep in mind any speedo difference if it wasn't corrected when running a different overall tire circumference other than stock. There are a number of threads about troubleshooting it here on the forums. Just have to search!

 

Sometimes it takes a slight turn or on off the throttle to get it to disengage. Also I had this issue when I installed the same oil as the diff fluid. The new transfer cases need a specific 75w oil. I switched the oil out, and now it functions properly.

 

this.. also a manual downshift can kick it... easily.
