Appreciate any Pro owners thoughts here...

I picked up a 2017 Pro last month from a friend of mine. I'm adding Jeff Westcott's 2" pro lift kit:
    https://westcottdesigns.net/product/fox-trd-pro-lift-kit/

(I know it says Fox and I have Bilstein's on the '17. He has a Bilstein kit that I purchased. Their website is messed up and not showing the Bilstein option in the dropdown).

Here's an installed pic from Jeff's IG: https://www.instagram.com/p/B68WyrYg6HW/

Anyways, that kit will clear 35's with no BMC or UCA replacement so my plan was to go with 35/12.50/18 on the stock TRD wheels. America's Tire won't mount them on anything narrower than 8.5" and the stock wheels are 8".

So, I either need new wheels or a different tire.

    Question 1:
I love the SCS Ray 10. I can sell the Pro Wheels for enough to offset a big chunk of the price so cost isn't an issue. For re-sale, would you guys stick with the stock wheels and pick a different tire or go with the SCS+KO2 which I think will look better?

    Question 2:
If you say keep the stock wheels, would you go with a 285/75r18 or a 295/70r18? The KO2's dont come in either size so I need to go a different route.

    Question 3:
    Which tire:
    KM3 295/70r18 only
    Terra Grappler - both sizes
    Ridge Grappler - both sizes
    Other suggestions....

Depends on what you like. If you like the trd pro rims, use them. Go 285/75/18, almost a true 35" tire. Plus this size will be narrower and therefore weight less. 295/70/18 is a 34". Check out toyo open country at 2s in 285/75. Nittos have good reviews as well, and RG are actually 35.08" in diameter. But if you truely like the ray 10s, then get them and do a 35" tire and be done.

I wouldnt worry about resale. The pros hold their own in resale value, mods and all.

    1. Get the wheels you like. You've caught the bug. If you dont do it now you'll end up wanting to do it soon. Get them in 17", less wheel more tire = better off road performance and imho better looking. 17" wheels will fit dont let people tell you they wont.

    2. Get 35x12.50s. Buy once cry once. You'll want bigger and better later if you dont. Especially once you lift it and the wheels and tires dont quite fill the well like they used to before the lift.

    3. I'm running 35x12.50 ridge grapplers and have put them through the paces. Needless to say, they live up to their reputation. I do like to change things up from time to time, so when it's time to replace I was considering giving the Cooper Discoverer STT PROs a run.

Good to hear you guys think it wouldn't hurt re-sale to have aftermarket wheels....I think I'm going to do the SCS with Ridge Grapplers....now let's see what the wife thinks I'm going to do...

Thanks for putting your .02 cents in!

Your truck looks great. If my buddy didn't make me a deal I couldn't refuse on my Pro, that's what I'd be driving.

Keep the wheels, go with 275/70/18 it’s big enough and skinny width better for off-roading. Stock wheels means you don’t have to add flares to prevent shit flinging around because of a different offset and stock wheels with bigger tires look more professional if that makes sense.

This is situationally dependent. A narrow tire will tend to dig in snow and perform better than a wide tire. Snow and ice nullifies positive effect of a wide contact area due to low friction, and pressure plays a greater part. However in a more muddy off road environment, a wider tire with a larger footprint, tends to be better.

And to add to that, asphalt, dry or wet, generally wider is better. A con to wider tires though, greater fuel consumption due to increased traction/friction.

Edit: to add, just air down your tires to 15 psi and it doesnt really matter. Just always air down.

@BROGAN yes correct, it’s a compromise, no tire or tire size will be good in everything just like no vehicle will be good at everything.

F*ck American tire, just go somewhere else to mount the 35s. I’m on coach builder setup on my pro. Been like 3 years with 35s no issues! Even got 1.25” wheel spacers to push out the fitment on the 35” nitto grapplers with stock pro wheels.
