Hello all. I’m very new to owning a Toyota Tundra considering this is my first Toyota truck. I bought the very basic SR model with the bare necessities. It is a 2020 SR double cab. What my wife wants is step bars since she is quite short. What do you guys recommend that is not overly expensive but does a good job? Thanks in advance

    Alot of them
There are so many to choose from. It really depends on your budget and what range you are wanting to be in. I have the N-Fab Podiums on mine. They were around $450 or so. Tygers are in the mid 300's I think. Take a look on AutoAnything.com

20200115_131535.jpg I have the Tyger steps on mine. I believe they were $289 on their website when i got them. You may have to zoom in to see them better.

Those are really nice I myself are between those and the nfab without breaking the bank. Nice white truck btw. The amp research would be the ultamate choice but last time I checked they where still around 1500.00

Initially, I did NFABs which are bars and they were treacherous. Switched to Go Rhino RB20s and they work great. Kids, dogs, wife can easily step on and up w/o slipping off or risk getting their foot caught.

Welcome @rockledgetundra! As stated above, there are any styles to choose from. It all depends on your price, needs and preferences. I have the classic black running boards. They give us more area to step on. Here is stock picture of them on a DC.
    upload_2020-1-16_4-4-12.jpg
Good luck with whichever style that you choose.

    Welcome from Iowa!

I’ve seen a few others mention it and I’d also have to recommend Tygers. I originally had a set of Ionics but they felt really flimsy and didn’t even make it through one Iowa winter before rusting to hell.

The Tygers on the other hand are really solid and have held up extremely well in the elements. I’m very happy with them, especially since they were only $289.

Here’s a couple pics, Hope this info helps in your search.

I've always gotten the cheapest, black powder coated Westin nerf bars on my truck. Either the Signature Series or E Series. Both are carbon steel and from what Westin told me, the E Series is a little more expensive due to being galvanized steel. Never had a problem.

Are the TYGER bars low enough for wives and kids to use? I’m currently considering NFAB but like the tyger better

I had the Nfabs for my Tacoma and you had to think where to place your feet. Getting in, they worked fine using a side foot approach. However getting out, the step location got in the way and you had hop out while avoiding the step.

I just recently installed the Tyger Blade steps on my Tundra and find them much more functional. My 4 year old can get in fine with the Blades, and since its a full length step, I don't have to worry about his foot getting stuck in between the step and tube. Got the Crewmax version on Amazon for $360 a week ago. They take a bit more time for installation since the brackets are separate from the board.

My wife is barely 5' and my daughter is shorter. They both have no problem with the Tyger step. My truck is a stock height SR5. The Tyger customer support is great, too. I bought mine directly from them and the price dropped $20 within a week. One email and they credited me the difference.

Thanks guys. I’m going from stock to a 3” lift and 35’s. Took the stock steps off and everyone is already complaining!

As many have mentioned already - really comes down to what you'd like to spend and what look you'd like.

There are basic 3-4" nerf bars that can be had for under $200 like these -
    https://www.autoanything.com/nerf-bars/autoanything-select-round-nerf-bars
    https://www.autoanything.com/nerf-bars/westin-pro-traxx-4-inch-oval-nerf-bars

Drop steps (kinda like the nfab style) can be had for solid deals -
    https://www.autoanything.com/nerf-bars/aps-drop-step-side-steps

Can get a set that's made to look like sliders (kinda like the Tyger steps above) for around $200 -
    https://www.autoanything.com/nerf-bars/aps-truck-armor-side-steps

But for the best footing you'd want running boards -
These are very popular and very nice, but more pricey - https://www.autoanything.com/nerf-bars/go-rhino-rb20-running-boards
    or a simple running board - https://www.autoanything.com/nerf-bars/aps-5in-istep-side-steps

If you see something you like on https://www.autoanything.com/nerf-bars/10A50172.aspx shoot me a PM and I'm happy to see what kind of a deal I can get for you

Thank you all for all the responses. They are quite helpful and certainly pointing me to the right direction. Leaning towards tyger and aps side armor.

I went with the Ionic 41 Series running boards when I was in the same boat as you are. They were less than $300, easy to install, and I think they look good. I got them from runningboardwarehouse.com
