    Hello All
Happy New Year! We are a few months into owning our new to us, amazing and previously thought unobtainable 2013 Sequoia SR5. We are coming from an equally amazing but too small for us 2018 TRD OR Tacoma. The Sequoia was a good deal, private sale, transparent previous owner and an all around awesome experience so far... I thought the beautiful leather seats were stock but the PO told me they were reupholstered... Beautiful job.
Except for one nagging, unpredictably persistent issue... Every once in a while, under no similar situation, the airbag light is on. Then it isn't for a long while, passengers, no passengers, rainy, dry, cold... Then it is on again... Then off for another time, then on... Do you have any suggestions? Should I go to the dealer, independent shop? Thank you for your assistance...

    Sincerely,
    Rich

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
My Camry's airbag light came on once. Turned out to be an umbrella under the drive seat was pushed forward just enough to dislodge a connector. I'd start with simple things like making sure all related wiring is intact.

Its what will happen if a 'pro' gets a hold of it, they have to trace power, ground and signals back to ECU(s).

You could also get hold of an FSM and use it to determine test procedures (ohms, resistence, ect) to test various connections/components. Again its what a professional has to do to isolate the issue.

Luck and enjoy the Sequoia. : ^ )))

When I replaced the clock spring behind my steering wheel (a very common issue) one of the pins in the connectors was bent and caused the airbag light to to come on, I had to bend it back into place. This obviously isn’t your issue but maybe a faulting clock spring could be causing? It was a $12 part to replace and 30 min. There are tons of air bags tho in the truck, I wonder if it’s possible to narrow it down, I’m assuming it’s your steering wheel...other clock spring issues would be your steering wheel controls not working intermittently...

    Hello.
Thank you for the information... I have a bit of time this weekend which will allow me to dig into this issue a bit. Thank you.

    Sincerely,
    Rich

Have the same issue on my 2016 tundra. On for a drive then off for months.

Considering that the original SR5 cloth seats were reupholstered, I would definitely check the seats, underneath, wiring harness, connections, etc. Sounds too coincidental...
