I did the same thing with the leg on a washing machine. I replaced mine with OEM. The one in your link looks decent but it's been my experience that many times the knock offs are a little lacking in fit and finish. Maybe hit up @Roman on here, with the forum discount you should be able to get an OEM one for a reasonable price.

Based on the reviews and and the way it looks in the pictures I'd buy it. If it doesn't fit to your expectations return it. Amazon is great with returns. You really can't go wrong.

stupid question.....other than removing the clips, what is involved in replacing the cap?

That's it the 4 clips then it's got several clips attached to the underside of the cap. They just pop out. Easy on and off

This one for safety and looks. Ran wires from the inside versus just plugging it in. Took some time and mapping correct wires but well worth the effort

On the cover of the plug is the diagram, just tapped the wires from the inside of bumper. Just make sure you test the lights before you tape and wrap everything up. I drew the wire diagram on a card board and made things a lot easier.

Follow the same wire path as the rear camera wires and enter through the bottom tailgate to make it look factory installed and finished with wire loom and tape

Do it you’ll stand out from all the other trucks that run them on the bottom tailgate. I get asked all the time where I got it and if it’s an upgrade options...lol tell them it’s a “platinum plus”

Look what color wire is suppose to plug into port and splice in the rear. Sorry mines all taped up. That’s why I used a card board to draw color wire to plug

Look at diagram on hitch connector and see what wires coincide with that diagram. I used a cardboard to draw/write color wire so when I splice in the rear I know what wire goes to what connector. Hope that helps

Just an FYI, the forum discount is only on shipping, so it doesn't actually affect the price of the parts. You won't get better service than what Roman is providing though. Super helpful and very patient.

Here's one that we're working on for 3rd gens!

    Materials & Construction:
    - 3/16" thick steel plate
    - CNC lasercut & bent
    - countersunk stainless steel hardware
    - outdoor rated polyurethane foam gasket

    Finish:
    - textured black powdercoat
    - black color-matched screws

100% American-made in Southern California and completely bolt-on/off.

You will be able to rest lumber, pipe, kayaks and whatever else you want on your tailgate without ruining the top of the tailgate. The cap attaches to the tailgate at 9 points to distribute loads evenly across the top and inside.

Pricing & shipping will be available in about a week. Free local pick-up in Huntington Beach or Glendale, CA.
