Hey folks. Long-time Toyota enthusiast here, first-time Tundra owner. On Friday I saw a good deal on a 2001 Tundra AC TRD Off Road, and got a good feel from the owner after talking to him. So, even though it was an hour and a half north ... and it was -35 outside - weather be darned, my kid and I drove the hour and a half, took a good look, made a good offer and brought it home!

She needs some work: Calipers are shot, rotors rusted, heater blower motor sounds like a rabid squirrel, tires were cupped, windshield smashed by massive hail, tailgate handle broken and a few other things.

Monday afternoon I had the windshield put in, and then Monday night my kid and I put on some new winters. We went inexpensive and used Sailun Ice Blazer WST2 with studs. I must admit, they're mighty grippy in this cold, Alberta winter. Much better ride/handling than I thought a budget tire would have! I think come summer I'll put on Duratracs, but I'm not 100% sure which way to go yet.

I ordered the Powerstop calipers (S13WL kit) as well as new rotors, the longer pads, SS lines ... all should be here this week. (Calipers and lines already arrived!)

Blower motor and tailgate handle should be here tomorrow. Rotors and pads are coming from Ontario, so not sure how long those will take. I hope they're here Friday so we can do the brake work on the weekend.

The only 'mods' so far are the larger wheels/tires and the small light bar the previous owner attached.

There's some peeling paint and surface rust that needs cleaned up, some hail dents we're going to try to cheaply PDR as well as some other maintenance to attend to. I'm reading these forums and grateful for the help y'all are providing!

Looks good. No issues with this one. I'm going to be doing more cleaning and protecting of everything underside once it warms up here. (-45C wind chill right now).

Nice truck. The only way to eat Alberta beef steak is 4 minutes per side on hot iron grill.

Unless it's under 2" thick ... then 3 minutes per side.

Ooh ... and the UPS guy just arrived with some goodies:

    powerstop1.jpg SS_Lines.jpg

Power Stop S2712 Calipers, Stoptech SS Lines, Carbon Ceramic pads and some OE style rotors (no slotting / drilling). Woo hoo! I know what I'm doing on the weekend . . .
