Pop black plastic cover off with screwdriver. Attack alligator clips to 9v battery and to any small probes that are conductive, the touch the 2 pins. Note that they are different configurations so the 2 pins on mine might differ from others so start one pin at a time until you find the ones that light it ip

Mine is a 2018 so it uses a different p/n than yours. Have you checked to see if the mating connector has same matching wires and pins? Mine only had 2 wires vs the 4 wires that seem to come on most trucks so I had to splice off the power from the footwell bulb to provide power to the illuminated ring. See posts #105 and #107 for examples.

My connector has 4 wires. Im in the middle of a remodel on my place and its winter so I did not want to take on any projects even small ones. Was hoping to have this plug n play from ebay work. I do not have a footwell lamp either

Do you have to disconnect the battery to do the swap, or it’s not necessary. Thanks

Sorry for late reply, that is the correct part number and yes it was PNP. My model is SR5, not sure if model of truck is issue or not?

I wired mine off the footwell light so that it illuminates when the door is opened. You can either get the contacts that Toyota sells or purchase contacts online. After doing a little searching online I think on TW, i found out that the TE 1123343-1 is quite close to the factory crimp contact so that's what I used. The contacts that you get from Toyota is already crimped with a short length of wire so you will need to splice in a longer wire to reach the footwell bulb.

Thanks for sharing. So 1 wire goes to the footwell light and the other wire is to ground. Is that how you wired it?

You could but the wire i used was paired so i just tapped both off the footwell light harness.

My swap was done in December, no issues to here. One of the most helpful mods I’ve done.

After a week of having my truck (2020 SR5) and fumbling trying to get the key in, I wanted an illuminated ring then stumbled on this thread.

Ordered part# 89782-0E010 yesterday and just installed, well it no worky. I’ve pretty much read every reply/post in here, think one of you installed on a 2020 and same thing, never lit up but never saw what the fix or issue was.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Btw, I did read where one member tied into the floor build wire harness and then grounded the other wire, could this be the alternative fix?

The part number you ordered is not compatible with 2020 Tundras. Don’t think there has been any confirmed one that does work since 20’s with key ignition only have 2 wires and you need a 4 wire pin from the harness.

Well that sucks, it was a 2 pin on my harness, purple and green wire and plugged rite into the new illuminated ring. The new ring even had a purple mark on it that corresponded to the connector from the harness.

Edited to ad.... wondering now if the other end of the harness is actually even connected for a power source.
