Thought I’d share my experience after having the stock wheels powder coated this week. I liked the look of the stock TRD wheels, but they needed something. I really didn’t want to spend a lot on aftermarket wheels with too radical of a design or offset.
After doing a little research and seeing the results of many others on here (especially with the satin black), I knew this was the option I was going with. Being that I wanted a different tire other then the stock Michelins, this gave me the opportunity to start the logistics process to have it done.
Cost me $385 out the door with the powder coater here in Seattle, included a can of paint for the center caps. My truck sat in my driveway on jack stands for a total of 5 days as I had the tires removed from the wheels at Discount Tire (where I purchased the KO2’s), brought the wheels to the powder coater (wheels were chemically stripped, sandblasted, 2 coats powder coat), picked them up 4 days later and dropped them off at DT that evening, picked up the mounted tires the next morning and got them on the truck.
It’s a little bit of a hassle, but if you have the time and means (a safe and level driveway and a second vehicle to haul tires in), then it’s not too bad.
Love the results, I’m very happy. The wheels are a 20% gloss satin black, and can look darker or lighter depending on the light or angle, very cool.

That's a really good price....I have an extra set of rims that I've been wanting to get powder coated.... I'm thinking bronze though. I currently have black rims with a grey colored ring

Who did the powder coating for you? (I too am in Seattle) Also what did they tell you about the lifetime of their work? Any warranty of anything? I like the look!

I really like the look of those. For those experienced with powder coating, how durable is it? Will it hold up to road salt every winter?

The factory black is powder coated. PC is very durable.
There have been a few that have experienced some "etching" from very harsh cleaners and possibly Brine solutions up north.
