Thank you for the information i have seen the bed tsb not the tailgate one until now. my window sticker shows that my truck was produced at the TMMI plant so my truck falls under both service bulletin's. i have provided Toyota with the TSB number of the bed but say it would only be covered under warranty.

i saw it on the news and went to the dealer the day after the case reached settlement but i was told itll take about a year for any action to be seen at the dealerships. my argument will be that my bed rot will spread to the frame causing the frame to rot due to their being no bushings like the cab.

I know this is an old post, but does anyone have a cost for these bed parts if I were to attempt to do that repair myself?

Your best bet is to buy a used bed that has no rust and have it painted to match. I'm going through this issue right now. The floor of the bed is 3 separate pieces seam sealed together.

Normally yes, I'd buy a bed. It's going in for the frame replacement in a few weeks. If the parts are reasonable I'm ahead of the game to pay for it. It's getting disassembled and reassembled at no charge under the frame coverage.

You also have labor to completely disassemble the bed and put back together

I'd pay slightly less for the complete bed, have to drive 4 states and back (16hrs) for a rust free one. Then it needs repainted and installed. (Probably another 4hrs minimum)

Yes, theres labor and weve just estimated how much time that is. My hourly pay rate is over $50hr, so I'm ahead of the game to have it done. If there's less than 10 shop hrs in the floor replacement....highly likely.

I would get an estimate done then before hand. When I went last year for a estimate they quoted me around 5k for parts labor and paint to fix my existing bed. I've found a couple of used one from $1500 to $2500 withing 5hrs drive of me.
