So looking to buy my wife a 4runner TRD OR Premium and my dealer dosen't have exactly what we want but of course they'll tell you they can find and get what you're looking for. Has anyone done this? If so can you "deal" with them on it vs one that's on the lot?

Yes. It’s a courtesy that one dealer almost always extends to another. Unless you go and start negotiating with the other dealer and they think they’re going to sell the 4Runner themselves (have their own active buyer for it) it won’t be an issue at all. The only issue might be how far the other dealer is away. When I worked at a dealer if the car we needed was within 200 miles or so we’d send a detail guy or lot guy down with our trade and he’d drive the customer vehicle back. If that bothers you, you might want to negotiate a couple hundred extra dollars and have your new truck trailered over. But in short, it happens all the time.

And it shouldn’t be an issue at all in negotiations. They’re making the same amount either way... minus the hourly rate of the driver and gas to get it to their lot... which shouldn’t be much. We have a 2018 4 Runner... great truck. Rock solid reliable and timeless looks.
