Bedliner: Stick With the Drop-in or Spray-on Liner?

The newer Tundra I bought has one of the drop-in, plastic bed liners. I've never been a fan of these since things tend to slide around and I have heard that they aren't good as water can get under them and rust out the bed. I did some reading online and it seems that some folks don't recommend a spray-on line either.

I am pretty much ready to ditch the drop-in, unless someone can give a good reason to stick with it, so are there any issues I should be aware of if go with a spray-on liner?

You won't regret the spray in! Go with a good brand like rhino liner or Line-x and you won't look back!

I had a Rhino Liner on my older Tundra and was very happy with it. The only bad thing is the local place no longer offers the 50% off coupon.

I'm about to do the same. Ditch the old plastic liner and get my bed Line-X.

Get the Line X, the drop ins can trap water and Rot your bed. I love the line x, Plus it has more grip. If it's raining and you're in the bed of your truck for any reason, the plastic is super slippery, spray in doesn't have that problem, plus it looks so good when it's new....

Both have their purposes of Advantages and Dis-advantages. You need to know what do you plan to do with your bed.

Let's hear one advantage to a drop in?

I appologize for poo pooing the drop, yes the slide feature is nice, in fact before I hit reply... I had thought of that. I had a bad experience with a drop in once, Rainy day loading a KX 450 , slipped and some how the bike ended up on top of me with all my friends crying laughing, I guess I'm still Jaded

In your case, bed liner would be dangerous.

I bought my truck with the intention of having it line-x, but end up getting the bed liner cheap from Craiglist due to the way I use the bed. To prevent the liner from shifting, I bolt the Bed Liner on the Rail on both side, and the 6 Bed Bolt.

Mine had the Toyota drop in I pulled it out at 600 miles bed was scratched up pretty bad under it. Got linex sprayed and the Toyota rubber mat, amazing combo. Linex is tough and mat keeps things in place

I like both ways as good options. I have a drop-in liner currently. I like being able to toss heavy stuff on it without worrying about dents. I also like being able to slide stuff in/out. If I don't want something moving around, I just put a bungie or strap on it. As far as water underneath it goes, I run a tonneau full-time, plus I live in the desert so that's a non-issue for me.

I'll throw another vote in the ring for a spray in liner. Line-X is what I've been using. Might add a mat for when I need a no slip surface.

I haul wood, bulk mulch, etc. in my bed all the time and want something that can not only clean up good but stand up to a scoop shovel being drug across it. Can a spray-in handle that?

I just traded in my Tacoma which had a drop in plus a rubber mat and I liked that combination but they have a composite bed - no worry of rust. My new Tundra has been used without a bedliner and is already scratched to hell. I worry about it rusting down the road if I just put use a drop-in...

I got line x shortly after I bought my truck. Still looks great. I would definitely go with line x with next truck.

Jack, what do you do when you wash your truck? I need to wash my Tundra with a drop in and I am concerned about getting water underneath.
