Does the smell ever go away? I guess I didn't read the reviews about this stuff closely enough. My buddy told me no problem applying it in the garage with the door open because it doesn't drip. My new truck smell has been replaced by fluid film smell and my garage smells awful too. My wife is pissed haha.

Use wool wax similar to ff. Thicker sprays better no smell.

The smell will go away. Took about a week when I did it.

It's that time again! Bought 3 cans of fluid film (going to a spray gun setup next year). I usually touch up any rust areas with Eastwood frame paint, and then spray with ff for protection.

I went with the kit and from now on I will pick up my Fluid Film at my local L &M Fleet. They have the gallon cans for $40 but the smaller cans are still $10. Got 6" of snow last night and another 6-8" possible tomorrow. Good thing I started prepping for winter early.

I wanted to try Wool Wax this year but I can't find it locally and the smallest increment I could find online was 3 cans.

You can pick up Fluid Film on Amazon in any amount that you want. Fluid Film has less smell than Wool Wax.

So my six pack of fluid film showed up today. I had just made it home from work. I had the tundra in the garage. Not sure exactly how to do it so I laid down a drop cloth. I had already put on show shop clothes. The fluids streams out much more than it spays. The best lighting for me was a headlamp. Just lay on your back/side and move along the edges and spray. Drop cloth was worthless. Hit a bunch of different angle. Didn’t get every nook and cranny but I did use 3.5 cans. The smell is really nothing and it is non toxic so didn’t even wear a mask. had 2.5 can left so I pulled the Tacoma in and did that. Total time about 1.5 hours. Seems it will at least slow up the rust that is there.

Just spent half of Saturday under my truck applying a gallon of woolwax. Opted for the thicker stuff rather than the FF so it doesnt wash off as easy. Took about four hours to apply (im thorough as hell and got into all the door/hood/bed cavities and pinch welds etc), bought the ‘pro’ gun from the manufacturer and my 7 gal compressor had no issues keeping up. We’ll see how it does, better than nothing im sure.

Update. Stuff doesn't smell much when you are putting it on...must get acclimated to it...but when I went back into the garage I could sure smell it then. Had a mess on the floor so I just poured some cleaner on it and wiped it up with some towels.

Did mine about 2 weeks ago, Bought the gallon can and Eastwood spray gun kit with bottle and 2 hoses , 1- for 360 deg spraying and other for deep in panels , both are about 24" long , and worked great. Used air compressor , no tarps, put front up on jacks and removed tires , and rotated them too. same with back , dropped spare, removed tires , sprayed heavy all over. No tarp needed, just foggy , no drips, lots of runs for first time , and getting nozzle adjusted, then went on great. All calipers all fuel and brake lines, everything. Just be sure and wear glasses and some (covid-19) mask will work. Looks really thick in can ,so I poured into plastic jar , then into bottle and sprayed. no slippery floor, or over spray that I noticed. Bought another gallon at NAPA 31.00 ON SALE AND 2- SPRAY CANS FOR TOUCH UP. Probably 3hrs on creeper and lots of flood lights around truck. 0ther great thing about it is , it never dries , or gets cakey ,so no need to clean out sprayer or bottle, just put in plastic bag and wait till next time. Love it. And EASY. GUN PART# on Amazon - Eastwood 20441 Also next day didn't notice much smell at all, unless I put my head under her.

Anything is better then having nothing on to protect the undercarriage.

Pickup a cheap pancake sprayer at Harbor Freight about 60.00 , and a gun on line for about 50.00, and order 1 gallon at Napa 40.00, still really cheap under coat , and then you have the air compressor and gun for touchup and next year. And only have to pay 40.00 for a gallon next year. cans are 13.00 each, and at 11.75 0z per can thats 11 cans and thats about 143.00 before tax for a gallon. And you still have to buy the spray attachment for the cans and thats about 15.00, and most reviews say they are junk. Way further ahead to invest once and have it. I do buy a couple cans for touch up areas under hood and tight spots, and just use plastic tube that comes with it.

Be careful with cheap HF air compressors...it’s hit or miss. I’ve had decent ones and ones that were complete junk. My 20 yr old Craftsman pancake compressor runs cm like a champ!

Feel for you guys up north. Need to move down to Louisiana. Great weather, good people and even better food. No Fluid Film. No Wool Wax. Just a few hurricanes.

Bringing back a thread from the dead, lol. Lots of good info here. I just picked up a 6-year-old Tundra locally and living here in the Midwest where they salt the roads, it has some surface rust on the frame. It is very cold here now and I probably can't do anything till the spring. I plan on using a rust converter and then paint over the treated areas. I then plan to FF the whole underside of the truck. My question is how clean does it have to be before I FF everything? Will a car wash that blasts the bottom be enough? I ask because if we do get some warmer weather (next week it may hit 50 degrees) maybe I can tackle this now instead of waiting till the spring. I can run it through a carwash, or will I have to wait till it's warmer and blast it myself with a power washer? What do you think?

Before I had mine done with NH oil I took it to the car wash and sprayed the living hell out of the underside. id I get rid of all the dirt, probably not but I'm sure I got a lot of it off. I'd run it thru the car wash. I live in Pa in the rust belt so I'm hoping this does a good job.

Thanks. Yes, I'll try the local car wash when it warms up a bit and see how it looks afterwards. If it's pretty clean and free of built-up dirt I think I'll go ahead and treat the rust with Rust-oleum, let that dry and give everything a coat of Fluid Film. It's been -15 here but supposed to get into the 50's by the weekend so maybe there's hope to get this done soon. I just bought this truck a couple of weeks ago otherwise I would have done this in warmer weather.

Hopefully you’ll be using the spray cans, I’m not sure it will apply thru the air compressor. It’s super thick, warmer weather is way easier. I had issues last fall, and it was 60 degrees.

Keep the product in the house overnight so it's warm & you should be okay to spray in cooler weather. If you're spraying from a bucket, put the bucket in a bigger bucket of hot water.

When washing the truck, be sure to the back corners & inside the cross bars under the bed.

Yes, spray cans for now. I can get them from Home Depot or Lowes but may invest in a gun later.

Thanks. I want this truck to last. I just got rid of a 03 Tundra with 250k miles with a perfect interior ran perfect and zero rust on the body BUT the frame was rotting thru with rust.

The bed bottom likes to rot, those cross braces for the bed floor, & dangle or remove your spare. The metal work that keeps the spare in place & it's cross framing really like to rot - as does the spare itself.
