So I searched for the title and lots of stuff popped up, but barely any pics and no dedicated thread. So I figured I would start this thread to help people out who are searching to do this. The first pics are of the initial cuts and flattened pinch weld. I used a wired dremel and metal cutoff wheel and mini sledge hammer. I went the lazy route and left the wheels on. Looking back at it I’m sure it would have been easier to do with them off, but oh well. I cut the pinch weld as well as the inner fender on the bottom so now the open area starts at the end of my bushwacker fender flares. After all the cutting and hammering I used some metal files and filed all the cuts and sharp edges and rounded them off just in case the new tires rub. I did this mod to fit 37s on a 2-3” lift. After that I used a 3m adhesive over all cuts and flattened pinch weld. https://www.amazon.com/3M-08115-Panel-Bonding-Adhesive/dp/B000PEW4MI

After it cures(24 hours) I will POR15 the entire area as well as the frame in the wheel well. I’m doing the entire frame in sections. Will post pics of that tomorrow. https://www.amazon.com/POR-15-40909-Stop-Rust-Kit/dp/B077J66P27

It’s not for everyone. Shit at first I never wanted to do a BMC and was happy with 33s. Then I had skinny leg syndrome and said let’s go 35s. I had to do the BMC to make them fit. I told myself no bigger cause I didn’t want to do this mod, but..... here we are. Lol.

I started this today. My dead blow is at work so I tried with a hammer. Oh hell no. Did about 3 inches and gave up.

Warren @831Tun recommended to cut every 3” and then hammer down. He was right. It makes a hug difference. I did one side with just one cut and all hammer work. It was not fun. Cut the other side in several places and it went faster. It’s not easy either way.

Yeah, I made a cut and did a 3” section. But with a hammer and the wheel on. When I get my dead blow, I’m taking the wheel off and going to town.

Oh man. That must have been an adventure. I’m sure with the dead blow and the wheel off it should go a lot smoother. Good luck.

No. Milo from Milpitas did the BMC and they are his custom plates. He does really good work. He also made my awning brackets.

I have relentless plates. They’re not very aggressive. Good enough for 35’s but I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to redo them to fit 37’s.

I didn’t know I could just cut it off. Figured it would make it a weak point unless you added something over the cut. What did you do to the cut to finish it off? Shit would have made my life easier for sure. I was always reading people going to town with a BFH. Oh well. This is exactly why I wanted to start this thread. I knew I wasn’t the only person that has done this and I’m sure there was a better way. Unfortunately I couldn’t find that info before hand.

If you’ve done this before and have pics, post them. Would love to see how everyone did theirs and how they finished them off to make them look clean and keep the area solid still. The more info the better for the next guy who is going bastardize(I mean customize) their truck. Ha ha.

These are my numbers but 831tun says my caster should be around 4 and it won’t rub but the shop said it maybe the best they can do

What brand of upper control arms do you have? I got SPC so that it would help with the alignment.

Nice. I thought they added caster by design? But I guess it would make it harder to achieve the numbers you are looking for with a control arm that you can’t adjust cause you only have the lowers you can play with which is not much to be honest.

Are the BMC plates that SDHQ and others sell aggressive enough for 37's or will more material have to be removed? I have an ICON 3" lift with a Delta joint in the UCA and I don't know if the caster can be adjusted (says it's auto-adjusting, whatever that means). I'm also going to be running 17" ICON Rebounds which have a +25 offset which I've been told helps a lot. Thanks for any info.
