Anyone have a pic of their truck with 1/2" bumper shims installed? I ordered a set and I'm wondering how much of a noticable change they make to the front of the truck, if any at all. Thanks.

I don't have a 3rd gen but on my 2nd gen you can't even notice with your eye that they are installed.

    Thanks @15whtrd !

OP let me know if you have questions. To me it is noticeable. But to everyone else prob not. But I did just install them last night. I think the only place they are noticeable is the wheel well.

I had to hit them on with a hammer to get them to seat cause they were snug, but that's a good thing.

@jmevis -- thanks. What lift/wheel/tire setup prompted you to install the bumper shims? Also, do you think it's necessary to remove the grill and surround? I've seen instructions out there that say to just remove the bumper itself.

Im to to go with 35x12.5r18 BFG KO2s. There are 4 bolts that hold the end caps to the bumper. In order for me to get to them I had to remove the cowl that is directly under the headlights. In order to remove those cowls, I had to remove the grill. Removing the grill is probably the easiest part of the install, but most scary since its pop clips.

There are other ways to do this... Like removing the bumper from the bottom of the truck, But I didn't have a right angle air compress torque wrench. So I had to remove the bumper cover to get to the bumper bolt/nuts.

Oh also TRD PRO suspension, but I am installing the full CB kit which includes 1" lift up front with a shim and then 1.65" in the rear with the shackles. Stock TRD PRO wheels, with Bora 1.25 spacers. At least this is the plan at the moment.

Ok that's helpful. I'm going with 275/65r20 (34") on +50 BBS wheels with a 2.4" lift, so I don't need quite the clearance you do. However I'd like to install these spacers (or maybe just 1/4" worth) rather than removing mud flaps or manipulating the liners.

CB sells them where they stack, so it was 2x .25" shims per side. It wouldn't be a problem to only use 1 per side.

@Coachbuilder1 sells the bumper shims @Willskaf . You can find them on his website or google them for other vendors.

So if shows on their website that for $85 you get 4 plates. I'm assuming each plate is 1/4 inch thick. Why not just make one plate 1/2 inch thick ?

Simplicity. People who need either 1/4 or 1/2 inch buy the same kit and CB only has to make one kit with one sku.

Got it. It also could be that it's harder to cut a half inch steel .
I'm going to go with 295/70/18. Can I get away with 1/4 inch or do I need the 1/2 ?

FYI - Coachbuilder’s are made from aluminum but other suppliers do make them from steel of that makes any difference to you.

I’m on 295/70/18 and I would probably use 1/2 inch. I rub slightly but the 1/2 inch would provide much better clearance.
