I just bought a new to me 2017 tundra. I’ve only had it about 3 weeks and noticed a soured carpet smell. Thought the kids spilled something but never could find it. The smell has gotten progressively worse, just rained hard tonight so I went through the entire truck looking for leaks and finally found it in the most random spot. Water is leaking from under the center console and pooling under the passenger seat. Once enough water collects there it eventually runs under the floor mat but it is 100% coming out of the console. Naturally the roof of the cab, floorboards near the dash, everything is dry. It has to be a windshield leak somewhere I would think? Has anybody else had this issue and got any ideas? Thanks for the help

Just had my center console apart and wonder how it could get back there. Maybe through the vents? Do you happen to park on a side hill with driver side lower than passenger side?

No, relatively flat where I park. It has me puzzled as well. I have no idea how water could travel that far without coming out somewhere else first. Wish I had taken a pic before I cleaned it up, it’s running out from under it though mid ways of the passenger seat

Wish I had better ideas...that’s a long way for it to travel from the windshield. Leaks suck!

My experience with previous Toyota’s reminds me of earlier 4Runners and Tacoma’s where the AC condenser drain would get clogged and would soak the passenger front floorboard.

Try running the AC and check under the truck to make sure it’s dripping.

Yes, I would check the condensate drain from the HVAC box. What part of the country do you live in? A warmer/more humid location will make more condensate.

You should see a tube coming down on the passenger’s side. I have had an issue like this with a previous Toyota. I stuck a hanger in there to clear it and it was fine after that. Good luck

I snapped this pic after I drove to work this morning. You can see the water running down from the console under the seat. Today has been the first cold day we've had in weeks so I didn't run the a/c. It flooded rain last night, I hope it is an a/c issue and not a rain leak.

Just wanted to post an update, waited a couple days to make sure I got the issue. The ac drain was clogged. The drain on these is not a easy access tube, it’s right in the center of the truck directly over the transmission and it’s hard as a mother for a grown man to get his hand in there. I was able to get my air hose in there and blow it out and about a gallon of water came rushing out on my head. Been 2 days and no water seen again. Thanks for the help!

I would pull the passenger seat out and allow the carpet to dry. Mold has likely formed. Auto parts store sell AC evaporator door eliminator that very effective at killing mold.
