Has anyone figured out how to use the screen projection app on the new tundra? When I click it on the screen it says to contact a phone but when I connect a phone the icon disappears?! It’s obviously a feature the truck has but idk how to use it!! Help!

I'm pretty sure it's limited to Android Auto or CarPlay. Once you plug in the phone it should change to that service, for me it's AA and starts when I select it. Ensure you have the phone plugged into the left most USB port.

mine does that too but how do you mirror the screen from your phone tho. On other Toyota models some you tube videos show that you can mirror whatever is on your phone to the dash. For example Netflix.

They're using an aftermarket system, the stock head unit won't perform this function IIRC. There is a way to do that by messing with your android device, but I believe that takes root access on the device.

Hmmmm wonder why Toyota would have that icon there on the dash without being able to use it

Its used for Apple Car Play or Android. When its not plugged into anything it just says projection.

I did a little research on this and you would have to connect AV cables from the back of the headunit with another little gadget that converts to a USB plug for your phone.

There are some YouTube videos out there showing how to do it on other models with entune3.0 headunits.

I may do the mod in the future at some point

Did anyone find a solution? I kinda like the factory radio, just looking to be able to mirror my phone. Thanks.

Ive looked at old videos, just don’t know if they work on 2020’s.

It should work when your phone is connected via the leftmost USB port below the stereo.

*by design, I don’t believe it’s expected to work over Bluetooth.
