On the remote start for the Tundra when you hit unlock the truck stops running? Anyway to disable that so truck continues to run?

Is this factory or aftermarket remote start?

I know viper/Clifford shuts down if the brake is hit without the key in and turned to the on position. Not door unlock.

    Hmmm, that's odd.

Do you have a different remote they have you? I was actually considering getting this soon...

Maybe not now that I know this :anonymous:

Good to know! What remote do they give you? Any pics? Or utilize factory remote?

Cross that off the to do list.

    Anyone have aftermarket?

Its the same remote for all Tundras. You hit the lock button twice quickly and then press it again and hold it for a few seconds and it starts.
Then as stated when you hit unlock to enter the truck the engine shuts down. Terrible design, don't know why it couldn't be like chevys remote start or most other after market remote start kits.

Yeah was gonna say, my uncle has a 2016 GMC Yukon with factory remote start and it's the same as viper/Clifford.

Must have been seatbelt Mike from the Tacoma design team who sat in on this one

i do like the no cutting t harness in this kit and the fact i can use my factory fob. also i would not need a bypass module with the evo one

My Compustar comes with 2 key fobs. But also can use the factory fobs.

What remotes are used to increase distance on this one?
Is there a video of installing this kit available?

Would like a remote start kit for a 2014 Tundra with G key. Just don't know specifically what unit ans what remotes and modules to buy. Thank you!!

There’s a good selection of RF kits to increase the remote range here is the list according to manufacturer

What is the difference between the evo one and evo all?

One of them is $99 other is $199. Is it the olug and play aspect?
And, can any of those remotes work with either system for our trucks?

Not really sure about the differences but the EVO all have to be hardwired if you don’t have any problems with that your can save $$$ going that way.

Yes RF kit are compatible with both options

Are any factory or add on warranties, like JM&A, bumper to bumper 60 mo, 60k miles voided by the plug and play kit?

It seems to be cheaper than the 12volt solutions one. But their site says their plug and play systems do not void warranties. Wondering if the evo fortin kits do not void warranties also.

They offer the same Fortin EVO remote starter they just rebrand the thing, Fortin Canada is the manufacturer.

Not sure about warranty policies in the end this depends totally on your dealership if they want to blame any aftermarket installation you do to you truck they are good at it but for law they can’t refuse a warranty claim if they can’t prove the damage was caused by the aftermarket parts installed in your truck.

Contact Fortin directly to see if they have any input regarding factory warranty.

Agreed. Do not be oversold on factory remote start.
I ended up getting an aftermarket installed. The theft protection is when the brake is applied, not when you open the door.

    All stock
My understanding is if it’s an oem remote start then that’s the norm. I got an aftermarket remote start. It’s a compustar csx with lte. Remote range is 3000ft. It unlocks the door without shutting down the engine. Just insert the key and turn to ON before pressing the brake then drive. If you press first the brake, the engine shuts down.

Fortin Evo one with the LinkR LT mobile wifi app. Works great. You can start/stop and lock/ unlock doors from anywhere. No limit on distance as long as you have signal. Installation was easy. Truck stays running when door is opened. Works in conjunction with factory fob.
It’s great on these cold mornings hopping into a truck that’s defrosted and toasty inside.
