Sup from the middle of nowhere Missouri. Just picked up an 05 late yesterday for my son. It’s gonna be his, but we will use it for hauling shit when the Taco and 4runner just won’t do.

    Stoked to be here

Baja Design Lights came in yesterday.

Have everything needed to get the front end 100% except time...hopefully, I can get this started next weekend but might be the end of the month, unfortunately. We'll see!

Experimenting with a heritage decal made for a TRD pro grille. I'm not sure if I like it or not. Certainly looks better on the Pro grille.

Good luck! I just ordered my thread to redo mine. Fyi the booger tape is slightly visible on areas I near the top of the wheel(the middle part from stitching). I can't see the tape anywhere that I put it near the stitching.

Yours should go much better than mine. I should have taken the wheel off. Oh well, lesson learned.

Didnt want to start a new thread for this. Im debating on going back to my stock wheels (16" twisted star 5 spoke) due to possible gain in strength. Does anyone know the load range of the stock wheels?

Wheels don’t really have a load range that I’m aware of. The tires are what carry a load range. Stock are passenger car rated (c). A lot of people got up to load range E tires which is what 3/4 and 1 ton trucks use.

a lot of off-road focused tires are load range E also.

Thats what I thought, I was just confused/concerned because my aftermarket wheels had a load range of 2200lbs each only...which seems kinda low to me, leaving me about 4k in weight after taking the truck out

Considering your payload is under 2000lbs...That leaves plenty of room.

True, didnt think of that. Would this amount matter in a towing instance? I have towed a fairly loaded trailer (6x8) with a load in the bed too with no issues. I guess I am just looking for some reassurance! Thanks!

Just the weight at the tongue of the trailer but the real payload of the trailer will be over its own wheels/axel/springs etc.

True, but the GVWR of a 1st gen is only 6050. That’s the absolute max the chassis is rated for.

Those original wheels are stronger than a lot of aftermarket ones. They're forged where most aftermarket ones are cast.

I bet they are. I know factory Ford alcoas have a reputation for being strong wheels. I'd imagine oem stays on the side of caution with wheels and stuff like that. Unless it's cheep tires haha

I think normal passenger rated tires are P, C-E are lite truck tires.

Thanks to @FrenchToasty, I finished up ECGS bushing and seal. I rebooted the CV axle and tie rod end as well. Finished filling the front diff just as the nasty band of rain showed up. Obligatory pic is after getting them washed yesterday.

It’s pretty simple once you actually go to do it.. I can’t really explain it because I’m terrible at that. But if I ever need to do it on mine I’ll be sure to grab a video
