    Hey folks,

I just bought some scrap steel in order to practice welding. Is 75 cents a pound too much ?

Seems like it should be cheaper.

Hoping you can help a newbie out.

    Thanks

You shouldn't be paying anything really. Go to your local scrap yard or local dump. You could call a local welding business and ask someone if they can give you some scrap. Construction sites are another option. I don't know what type of material your planning on welding, I would think it's just mild steel, if so just bring a magnet with you. Any metal the magnet doesn't stick to is non- ferrous, stainless, aluminum, etc. What process are you using?

Just a HF titanium 125 for FCAW process.

I acquired enough PPE to upgrade to better machines later :)
