Anyone here have issues with mold growing on fabric gear which they keep in their drawer system? I'm LE and I keep a bunch of gear in my Decked system and all my gear is high end well made gear. I went to grab a pack out of the drawer, this pack has been in there for a few months and it was covered in mold... There are no indications of a water leak as the drawer itself was dry. I sent a PM to @DECKEDUSA back on 26NOV2019 asking if maybe there's a seal or something I should check, I didn't receive a response so I pinged @DECKEDUSA again on 16DEC2019 and still haven't received a response. Their website states "Drawers are weatherproof. System itself is impervious to moisture, extreme UV light exposure and severe temperatures" as of today still haven't gotten a response on if there's something I should check.

One thing to note is that I still have my Toyota rubber bed mat on top of the drawer system, I was thinking this would inhibit water intrusion but is it possible this affects airflow negatively allowing a stagnate environment for mold to grow?

FYI using Hydrogen peroxide will kill the mold after scrubbing with a brush if any of you run into this issue.

I’m not sure but you could be on to something with the rubber bed mat not letting it “ breathe “ - I’m curious about your issue and outcome as I too plan on getting a @DECKEDUSA system and don’t want to have same issue

Good luck and keep us posted !!

I also keep similar style bags in mine and have had no issues. I’m in Charleston SC and it’s a swamp here with mold and humidity. So it is possible that bed mat on top has something to do with it scientifically but I don’t see how. Maybe by sun heating up the decked system it somehow keeps the temperature at a certain level to deter mold growth? There is no way decked could have engineered that based on all the different climates it’s purchased in.

Hey there Flying Fuzz sorry for the interruption in service. We have had some internal changes and are getting back on track with forums here shortly. First for everyone on the forum, if you have any problem ever, please just pick up the phone and call us at 208-806-0251 or email or chat with us. We have immediate repsonse first class customer service (during working hours). And can be a better way to get issues remedied quickest.
Second to this, it's the first we have heard of it. HDPE, the material DECKED is made of, does not mold, rot, rust or otherwise decay over time. It's the same stuff your green Rainbird sprinkler box is made of buried in your yard.
If you live in a humid, moldy, warm climate and leave things which can mold for a long period of time in your drawers, it's not impossible to imagine them getting moldy. DECKED is weatherproof so it does keep 99% of all moisture out, which also means that humidity doesn't have a consistent airflow to keep mold from forming.
It seems that this would be something that would have to be considered like closing up anything which could mold up into a semi-airtight container for an extended period of time. Sincerely bummed about your gear. PM me and I will send you some DECKED stuff to take the pain away.

THis is an interesting thought of sun actually warming up everything to keep it dry. Anyone else on here had a similar issue?

Thanks for the response, what's your thought on the bed mat being installed over the drawer system? It covers the main attachment point that connects the two drawers so I'm not sure if this is hindering airflow, my thought was to keep the mat to protect the surface of the drawers, take care of your equipment and it will take care of you mindset...

I appreciate the offer for the freebies but I'm good my "pain" isn't that bad, I just purchased two crossboxes and drawganizer, which is pretty slick, keep coming out with new add-ons!

I don't think the bed mat could affect the humidity levels in your drawers. Since water cannot pass through any of those materials, it's hard to imagine that it trapped air inside any more than it would without a mat. I'm guessing a combination of being in your climate, sealed up in a drawer with material that was able to mold is the cause.
Stay tuned, we have some awesome new stuff coming... can anyone say D-Bag? Drawerganizer Max, etc.
IN fact why doesn't everyone take a sec and make us a wish list. We are in that mood and mode right now working on new accessories.

I wouldn't think it would have an affect either, I'll just mark this as an X-file and move on, I do appreciate the responses . Looking forward to seeing some new ideas from you guys, I really enjoy my drawers

@DECKEDUSA -- can one safely mount one of those ARB for instance fridge slides that pull out and drop down, holding the fridge? I fairly sure the weight won't be the issue but what are your thoughts of having to fasten something directly to the decked systems top?

For sure. Not a problem at all. The DECKED deck surface has lateral steel tubes you can affix items like a cooler to. You will need to make sure that you follow our "how to attach things to DECKED" guidelines and not bugger up your system in the process but this is common a fairly simple.

I asked this once upon a time and was told there are almost never any sales on it. IMO it’s slightly overpriced so I’ve not pulled the trigger on one. It needs to be about 10% cheaper. $1000 seems like a good price for steel tubes and recycled plastic. $1150-$1250...meh I’ll just save a bit longer and get a diamondback cover with that you get a lifetime warranty.

We operate at an every day low cost which means we really don't have any room for discounting products. I definitely want to share the love to our tundra world out there so stay tuned as a limited time member pricing might be something we consider.

Shoot us an email at orders@decked.com and they can help get you set up with the right sales rep to run through this. We have fleet sales that give discounts for larger orders and they will be best suited to answer those questions.

I need to jump back in to correct this as it appears there is some confusion.

We work extremely hard to keep our prices as affordable as they are while manufacturing a top quality product here in the US by workers who are paid fairly and treated right. We never discount as we want to maintain the integrity of our business and offer a no haggle price structure.

The original message around our fleet pricing structure is directed to those individuals who run a company with tens or hundreds of trucks and are looking to outfit the whole group.

Sorry for any confusion here! We still love our Tundras community and hope you can get set up with a DECKED system soon!

Hey @DECKEDUSA. Ever get bored on lock down? Ever want to make small changes to things for no reason other than “because that’s why”? Well then....Ely Yerian Designs right next door in Montana has an answer for you.

Looking for anyone with a Decked system that puts their motorcycle or dirt-bike on top. How do you tie down? Does it seem secure? It just sees to me with the loss of depth of the bed, that the possibility of the bike being able to roll over the rails is significantly higher. If you all have any pics of your set-up I would appreciate it. And this is specific to 2 wheeled bikes, not ATV or 4 wheeler. Thanks

It will easily hold an ATV or dirt bike, but you will need a special ramp to get it on to the top of the decked system. As far as tie downs, I just use the bed rail system and standard ratchet straps. I would contact @DECKEDUSA about the ramp that works with their setup.

Here are a few shots of dirt bikes on top. One on a full sized system and one on a mid-sized to show the difference of length. For tie-downs we have our DECKED Core Trax tie-down system which will work great or you can use the existing holes on the bed rails.

I’m rocking a Gen1 crewmax system in a normal bed. Got a killer deal on it and system is basically “like new”. Noticed a lot of the improvements they have made over the years by seeing what a first gen system looked like....but it’s still great and solid. Some slight cracking of the drawer on the top near the rear wheels is a little concerning but still very sturdy. I’m sure I could replace the drawers if needed eventually, the dimensions are still the same. Made some custom eye bolt mounts to secure it so I didn’t have to modify the system itself, and actually very much like the space in front. Great place for propane tanks, firewood, my generator and fuel can, etc etc.
