Well, its that time again... need ya'll to help me spend more money (I know your good at it).

I'm installing a 12k Smittybilt winch in the bumper and am wondering if its necessary to upgrade the alternator? looking at this one but I've heard there could be problems with the pulley spinning it since its so heavy and that they don't last.?
    is this even needed?

Also looking into doing the dual battery kit from sdhq does anyone have any experience with this kit?

When I wire up the winch I'd like to control the power on / off to the unit from my SPOD in the cab. I know I can't wire the winch directly to the spod since the amp draw would be to high, but there is an on/off switch that I think I can intercept and wire to the spod, does anyone have experience doing this?

Moving from a 90A alternator in my heep to a 160A was life changing.

Make sure the batteries you run are over 750 CCA for winch solenoid longevity.

I remember reading something a few years ago that the tundra doesn’t idle high enough for a high output alternator. What I read said the guy had issues with charging. Seems like he said his truck died at stops. Maybe he got a bad one or it was installed wrong though.

Edit: just tried to find the post but no luck. Found one where a guy had a 320A one and said it would overcharge and some saying 170A ones are good. I might be remembering it wrong.
