My Tundra is the first truck I've head with LED's. Do you guys find that the glare from the LED's is horrible in the snow, especially at night when it's snowing heavy? I was thinking of swapping my fogs out for a set of Baja Design Squadron's, but was going to go white, now I'm thinking I need something amber up front....

Yes, yellow lights are better in snow and fog. You can look to get some Amber covers or laminx makes yellow covers you can tape on the led lights

omgboost is correct. The issues with glare have nothing to do with they type of light (LED, HID, etc.) and everything to do with the color/temp of the light. The yellow or amber lights don't reflect in such a glaring way, so they are better for seeing through debris like snow or dust.

They make an LED bulb that does all 3 types of light out of the same bulb. You just toggle through the switch and go from white, yellow, to amber depending on your preference at the time.

Amber in the Fog Lights with Snow is no myth! It truly does make a great deal of difference in Thicker Conditions! :) Living up in Northern Minnesota, I personally ran GTR Lighting 3000k 35w HIDs for my Fog Lights for Years and LOVED that setup!

The truth is, LEDs are worse at pretty much everything except power consumption. People think they look cool but in practical terms they are pretty bad and worsen visibility in actual tests, even if people think they 'look' better most of what they are seeing actually is not helpful.

I dunno man... LEDs definitely made my night time driving easier, so much so that I put in a Job Application with HR after upgrading my own vehicle with LEDs! For example, The new MLED 2.0 LED Projector is INSANE to say the least! The correct LED for the right application is 110% going to be an upgrade from factory Halogen. :) You just need to make sure that A.) the Right LED is used in the Right application and B.) that they are Installed and adjusted properly for the ideal performance and the Road Safety of others!

In Snowy conditions, I can see where a Brighter LED could limit visibility with the Glare that can reflect off Snow, but you still will have a better Distance/Hotspot down the road to provide more Distance Visability, which is the Name of the Game with Snowy Driving. This is where I always recommend for those who deal with the Fluffy White stuff more often than others to run an Amber Fog Light to level out that Visibility. :)

The issue is the quality of the light itself is a type that reflects back at you worse than incandescents. You can make LEDS that work great but that isn't what most people want, even a lot of OEM headlights have become terrible because costumers associate that blue white glare with 'high tech' etc.

And a lot of people don't care about blinding other drivers....which even if you don't care about them, makes it more dangerous for you if they are headed at you at 70 MPH and are blind.

But yes, amber is better than white or blue. Red would be the best but of course there are reasons you can't use that for headlights.

The focus/delineation of those in your picture is really impressive.

That's definitely not how the new 2019 headlight beams look like.

Agree 150%. Distance visibility with my LED head and fog lights is crazy good. Not even a comparison to halogens imo. I haven't had any snow this year so I can't really speak to the glare. But I can get amber covers for my BD Squadrons if the need arises.

That’s the MLED 2.0 Bi-LED Projector assembly for Retrofitting, here is one I’m installing into a 15-17’ F150 Headlight.

Technically, the yellow halogens are easier on the eyes, so it is better for on-coming drivers and for you. But the issue is that halogens do not put out as much light without consuming a lot of energy and putting out a lot of heat. Therefore, HID and LED steps in to solve either the light output part (HID) or both (LED). I have 3 cars, one with Halogen (VW Diesel Wagon), one with HID (Nissan Armada), and one with LED (Tundra with OEM LED). I can tell you that the halogens in my VW are the worst of the 3 at night. I cannot see crap. The HID and LED are much better. The HID is the best with light output.

I just bought these in yellow to replace my factory LED fogs to help with rain, fog, dust, and the occasional snowy conditions I find myself in. Another downside to the LED in icy driving conditions is since they don't get warm, the ice can build up on the lights and limit their output.

I also purchased these to replace my front blinkers when I noticed how dim the factory bulbs are. These are a 100% improvement over stock. Everyone with the new headlights need to buy these.

I bought a set of these for the foglights in my wife's 4runner. (I think the company was LAsfit?) They are very bright through all colors, but its very important to make sure that they're clocked correctly and aimed properly. Since you're installing an LED bulb going into a halogen reflector, if you don't clock them and aim the light, it will be a scattered mess.

Yellow or amber light has a longer wavelength. White light has a shorter wavelength. Longer light wavelengths are less scattered by fog molecules suspended in the air making amber lenses/lights ideal for fog.
