For bourbon there are so many great ones hard to say just one.
For a nice, not every day drinker, I guess Woodford Reserve-Knobb Creek Single Barrel. I recently tried Bulleit Bourbon and thought it was very good too.
My favorite everyday low cost bourbon is Very Old Barton. For the price this bourbon cannot be beat!

Scotch I love The Macallan more than any other. If I have the money I go 15 year but 12 year is ok. Do not try some of their non year labeled versions as I did and regretted it.

@T.Durden13 what do you think of the Russells? I tried it and thought it was way overrated especially for the price.
Glen Moray is a decent low cost scotch but a little watery for my taste.

I drink a lot of Scotch or Japanese whisky. I really like yamazaki 12 but it's hard to find. There's a sushi bar locally that actually has it in a flight for a reasonable price. Also, been able to find bottles occasionally at bevmo. The nikka from the barrel is really good as well as hibiki harmony.

Best I ever had was macallan 25. That's just perfect.

@tennisfreak I actually haven’t had a chance to try that particular Russell’s yet. I’ve had their red label variety and thought it was ok but this version came highly rated in multiple sites. It was only around $39 so I thought I’d take a chance on it. I’ll probably open it up tonight and have some. I’ll follow up after I’ve had a chance to try it.

I got these for Xmas. They are both really tasty.

I agree with a previous poster about there being too many great bourbons to have just one favorite. But high on my list are Booker's, Maker's Cask, and Knob Creek was my first "favorite" and still is a solid go-to.

Typically, it’s whatever is I’m my glass. I prefer Midleton or Johnny Walker Scotch though. But I’m not picky.

For bourbons, Wild Turkey 101 is my daily go to. Also like Basil Hayden’s and surprisingly Hudson Baby Bourbon is worth a try.

After watching the “Scotch” documentary on Amazon Prime I picked up some Bowmore 12 year and Glenmorangie. Really like the Glenmorangie.

Finally had a chance to get into the Russell’s tonight. Have to say I agree with you. I was expecting a little more based on other reviews and ratings I had seen.

At 90 proof it should still be fairly smooth but I found it a little “hot” and even more so than some other bourbons I’ve had at 100+ proof. Overall, it was pretty decent but I don’t think it lived up to the hype. For a $39 bottle of bourbon it’s fine but not sure I’d buy it again. I’d much rather spend a similar amount on Jefferson’s Very Small Batch or Michter’s. I’d probably give it a 6 out of 10.

Yes sir. I thought the Russells was not a bad bourbon just did not justify the high price. It lacked a little character I was expecting for a $40 bottle of bourbon.
I've seen the Michter's but never tried, I'll have to pick it up and give that a shot.

I'm pretty new to the whiskey game, but I've been trying to build a decent collection in the last month or so. So far, I think I'm doing well. My favorite is probably the Garrison Brothers Single Barrel. Very smooth and worth the $90 IMO. I'm not going to slug it out in the garage working on the truck, but it's definitely nice to sip some decently expensive stuff when the occasion is appropriate.

Also, found some Blanton's finallyyyyy. Drove from League City to Humble to pick it up, had my girl grab a bottle as well (with my card lol).

    Collection thus far:
    Garrison Brothers Single Barrel
    Blanton's
    Old Bones 10yr Reserve
    Knob Creek Single Barrel
    Barcones Single Barrel
    Blade and Bow
    Woodford Reserve
    Bulleit Bourbon
    Weller
    Makers Mark

Like I said, just started, but I think I have a decent lineup so far, plan on getting some other goodies soon. Cheers everyone!

Nice starter set. It's so hard to find the perfect flavor right away especially when there are so many. I tried Blantons for $85 a bottle and yes it was good but I would rather keep trying new stuff over buying it again, I may circle back someday.

I have seen the Garrison Brothers before , now you have piqued my interest.

I snagged my Blanton's for $80 a bottle, but I had never tried it before. I snagged 2 because I couldn't find a bottle for nearly 3 months lol Basically bought it to send pics to my friends and rub it in their face lol

I will say, the Garrison Bros is very smooth, and almost has a sweet aftertaste, it doesn't have any real burn. The Single Barrel is the only one I have had, but definitely my fav out of everything I have tried. So I'll probably dabble and try to get the others for comparison.

Flat out favorite smooth-sipping bourbon ever, Weller can’t be beat. Goes down way to easy! 2nd choices tied at 40 Creek Canadian and Bullit, both much cheaper than Weller. Mmmm, gonna go have some now!
