Tomorrow I’m heading to a local Toyota dealer to order my 2019 trd pro honeycomb grill. It seems to come in a few colours, but not 202/black like my truck. The closest is 218/attitude black. Has anyone done this? How do the colours go together?

Haven’t done it personally but I’m familiar with the colors. As far as an incorrect colored grill goes, especially pearl to non pearl, those would be the two to choose. 218 is not a very heavy pearl. Looks jet black in all but direct sunlight. That said it would drive me nuts. So I’d paint it to match.

Where ya located? I’d buy an earlier pro grille in 202 black and swap shells with ya if your local to Houston.

Right on you only see that blue flake on clear sunny days and even then it’s very mild unless your up close and you are comparing paint no one will even know the difference.

I think 2019 grill...I don’t have tss, I’m deciding if I’ll put a camera there or make a mold and cast some plastic to fill the gap

I did a slight variation... my truck is 218 Attitude Black and I put on a 202 Black TRD Pro Grill (pre-2018) and a 218 Attitude Black hood bulge. The only difference is as others said no blue flakes in the 218 Attitude black paint. Only in certain sunlight conditions you can barely tell a difference but to the untrained eye no one would be able to tell.

I only can tell because I know the difference in what to look for. But it’s oh so slight a difference.

I have no issues with it and think you’d like it.

I went the other direction. Truck is 218 and the grille surround is 202. I never really noticed unless I looked for the discrepancy. Soon to be a moot point as the truck is going satin black this spring.

I picked up my grill today. I am not shelling out the money for a colour matched bulge, they can suck it. I now have to decide what to do regarding paint...I can either colour match the bulge to the grill in attitude black and have them match but not match the truck, or paint the grill and bulge together in either regular black, or bedliner. What do you guys think?

I have and attitude black. On Saturday, I installed an attitude black bulge but a standard black TRD pro grill. The difference is not noticeable. That’s not to say the opposite color combo wouldn’t be.

My bulge is black, grill surround is attitude black. I put the grill up to the truck to see how noticeable it would be and I didn’t think it was a big deal. We’ll see in the spring when I put it on. If it bugs me I’ll just ride my bike while I paint the grill surround black to match. No big deal, but I won’t be painting it before I see for sure if it’s gonna big me

@JayCO where do you live? I wonder if it would be worth it to swap grill surrounds? I got a 2020 trd pro grill and there wasnt a "black" option, I got the attitude black because it was the closest thing.

Hmm. It would likely be a couple hundred bucks for each of us. That would eat up any savings I had by not buying a bulge...

I just added the ‘19 Pro Grill a couple of days ago, and I have a 202 truck and hood bulge and the 218 grille. If you get right up on it in the right light you can see it, but for the most part it’s not noticeable. What’s more noticeable to me is the garnish not being gloss black like the rest of the grille. I’ll probably remove it and paint it to match.7C7A647F-3B75-4A2D-B6F7-BBC6199A997B.jpg

I ended up having the grill surround and bulge painted to match my truck and I made my own garnish that is 202 black as well. It’s tie wrapped on while the glue dries. I think if I hadn’t painted it I would have regretted it every time I looked at the truck

I’ve got a 2019 Double Cab in 218 Attitude Black and put on a 218 hood bulge and 202 Black TRD Pro Grille/surround. I am about as picky as they come and it looks great. Even I have to adjust my sight line to tell the difference.

I’d bet 99 out of 100 people wouldn’t be able to tell the difference if they didn’t know about it.
