Are you asking for the best people have seen, the best they've gotten, best that you can expect?

My local dealer has a 2020 Limited (msrp $51409) for $46411. $2000 Toyota discount +$2998 dealer discount. Not sure how much lower they will go. I was hoping to get maybe $6000 Off w/no trade. Maybe not possible

I highly recommend the buying strategies from https://fightingchance.com/. It's the BEST investment of $65 you can make if you're buying new.

I got a steal on my 2017 TRD PRO because my buddy wanted a Raptor at the end of his lease and let me buy it for his $31,500 residual BUT when I bought my 2010 Platinum CrewMax 2WD, I got it for $7k under MSRP when no other dealer would go under $4k below MSRP. James Bragg at Fighting Chance basically gives you all the pricing and incentive info you need and a system to find out which dealers are motivated to move a vehicle.

In 2010, it turned out a dealer about an hour from my house had a customer who was buying 2 Platinums a month for his business but didn't take delivery on the 2 for that month. They weren't moving the Platinums quickly and just wanted it off their lot. In 2004, I got a similarly great deal on an F150 using the system. Last year my buddy got such a good deal on a Denali that the local dealer called him a liar when he offered him the chance to match the price and keep the deal local.

The best part is James is a really smart and interesting old man. If you call or email, he'll keep you on the phone for about an hour and tell you everything you ever wanted to know about cars and life.

Get the Platinum...you will thank yourself later.

If it is too good to be true or it smells like the bullshit sales pitch in the above $65 post it is.

@Crunch527 Cool story, bro. Keep paying what your dealer tells you they'll take for a truck. A $4k discount isn't a discount.

@Gene5253 How many dealers are within an hour of you? If you're in an area where there aren't a lot of dealers to work with, it's much harder to work a bigger discount.

It's a reasonable cautioning about a "deal" posted by a new member. Scams are common. Can't blame him for cautioning a fellow member.

@AzureNightmare If that's the case, totally understand. My thought is no one is getting rich over a $65 product. Can't understand why someone would think it's a sales pitch. Until a couple of months ago, their website still looked like 1995 so I'm pretty sure no one over there has thought about hitting forums for business.

@jlewis44 You are going to parachute in here on post #8 and throw down with some story to go to that site and pay for their advice? And then you get flustered because I called you out? C'mon Man.

I didn't comment on discounts or price...that was your handy work.

    My comment was don't buy a Limited...buy a Platinum.

@Crunch527 Your comment made more sense once @AzureNightmare added his thoughts. Let's focus on what we agree on. Buy the Platinum. I love my TRD Pro and the deal was too good to pass up but I miss a LOT about my 2010 Platinum. Some of those things I miss are still missing on the Limited that's all been covered here: https://www.tundras.com/threads/thoughts-on-platinum-vs-limited.8758/

@Gene5253 That's not terrible but it will limit your leverage. I'm very lucky, in So Cal we have a ton of dealers and one of them will be much more interested in making a deal than the rest (and will likely have the truck I'm looking for). If you want a very specific trim/color combination, that can limit you further.

A short summary of the Fighting Chance methodology is find 7-10 dealers you are willing to buy from that have the unit you want. Contact their internet/fleet sales manager at the optimal time of the month (generally make 1st contact the last Tuesday or Wednesday of the month unless the last day of the month ends W-F) let them know that you will be buying a truck this weekend, they have one that meets your needs and you would like their best # in writing.

Some dealers won't cooperate, most will. Let them know you will let everyone know the best offer you receive and allow them to counter before making a final decision. Worst case, they'll know what their competition is offering. Collect offers, agree on terms with best/lowest offer, handle everything over the phone and spend less than 30m picking up your truck (or have it delivered). Every time I've used the system (or my friends or family), we've always gotten at least 1 great offer from a dealer. The reasons why are always different. You and I don't know why a dealer is willing to move a unit cheap, but we also don't care, we just want the best price.

Gene, I got my new 2020 Limited in the Denver for the net price $44223 late last month. This dealer doesn't add a dealer prep charge.

I'm on a business trip so I don't have the paperwork with me. Re options, I don't think it came with any additional options other than what comes on a Limited but I could be wrong.
