I have a 2016 Tundra Platinum with JBL system.

I use synth oil, regularly change around 9k miles. Trouble is, the oil maintenance trigger turns on at about 4k miles, so for 5k miles every time I get in the car I have to acknowledge the warning.

How do I get this thing to stop coming on, or calibrate it for 9k miles instead?

    Thanks for suggestions!

The maintenance light is set for every 5k. 5k is the tire rotation interval. Oil is 10k so it works out nicely.

Good ol' Toyota programming. Starts flashing at 4500 miles I believe, stays solid at 5000.

You might get lucky with techstream to change the warning mileage. Double check that tho.

As far as I know there’s no way to shut it off. Or even change the mileage intervals.

I just reset it every 5k I don’t do oil.

Thank you! I'll print that and have it in my glove box.

Amazingly annoying that I'm not allowed to tune it out. Good grief...

I know it doesn't help you, but for anyone else 2018+ (I think) can easily turn it off in the instrument panel options.

I do love my Tundra but this issue along with a lack of smart sensor for my windshield wipers is sorely lacking.

I just traded a 17 with the FFV which is on a 5k interval for a 20 non-FFV. My understanding is the 20 is on a 10k interval correct? If so is the warning going to come on at 5k still?

Probably why Toyota's are so reliable. They annoy you to death with the warning so that you actually bring your car in for maintenance. Just kidding. It's easy to reset it and I just use the warning as a reminder of what maintenance I have coming up. I should rotate my tires though, but have been too lazy and hoping I would wear the current ones down quicker so I can justify buying new ones.

My 2008 Denali had them. It detects rain on your windshield and automatically wipes based upon how sensitive you want the setting. Really practical in Seattle area as it is always raining a drop here, then there, but often times not constant.

At least it’s a good reminder for those that like to go 10,000 miles before they change their oil. You should at least be checking the oil at 5K. I check it monthly just because. It’s super easy to reset. For me it’s perfect because I change mine every 5K.Also I rotate the tires at the same time.

For a vehicle with a 10k mile schedule would Toyota Care do an oil change at 5k?

If it’s a flex fuel truck is an oil change at 5k. Non flex fuel isn’t an oil change

I thought they stop making flex fuel. so there would be no 5000k oil change for a 2020.

I didn't even think of that. There are a few "I wish I hads" on the Tundra, but I doubt this one makes very many people's lists.

Yeah my dealer said I can use them whenever i want. You basically just have 2 free oil changes, and 2 free tire rotations with a "let us sell you some other random filters/treatments/air fresheners, etc"

i've yet to do a prepaid service on a 2020 at work. so unless toyota changed it, the non flex fuel did not get oil changes

I've got the drop in washable TRD air filter from my other truck and a K&N washable cabin filter, I tell them up front on my "free" oil changes so they won't bother me with that crap

Just checking in here. Is the maintenance warning strictly mileage-based?

It's not detecting issues with the oil or appearing early because of stop-and-go driving or towing is it? Mine came on a little early for my liking and I want to be sure before I clear it.

I have an independent shop put in Mobil 1 and rotate the tires about every 7500mi there's no way I am wasting the time doing it every 5K.
