San Antonio to Biloxi and added about another 100 driving around. Roughly 800 miles. No AC compressor running except 10% of the time. Trip back 580 miles it had dropped to 16.7. Wind was kicking up on the return vs the trip out.

My truck has never got this mileage before. I was lucky after a road trip to Roswell NM to eek out 15. It sure seems the AC really loads the engine.

nice! I can’t get past 15 with mixed driving or even 75% highway.
What was your speed? I’ve noticed as soon as I go past 70, mpg begins to tank. My Tacoma would do the same when I hit 75.

I've seen it read 18mpg when set at 72mph, with A/C on on my 75 mile one way commute to work.

Anything over 72 and it starts to decline. 80mph = 16mpg or lower.

I just did the conversion from liters/100km and I manage 20 mpg on the highway (not in the winter). I'm a fuel economy nazi so when I'm on the highway I drive 100 km/h which is roughtly 60 mph and I point-drive, this is with my truck with stock size A/T tires. Right now with extra weight in the back and winter tires on in the winter with all the extra fuel being burned I am managing 16 mpg of mixed driving, maybe 20 minutes a trip with 30 seconds of warming the truck up. I'm guessing in the summer I'll be somewhere in between around 18 mpg

I use manual shift and run in 6th. 75 mph windows up Ac on. Michelin tires.

15 was about the best I’ve done, that was until I put the exhaust on it, now I probably get 10. Good thing I don’t have to worry about mpg because I might have had to buy a Prius lol.

You guys are doing pretty good, hitting 17+mpgs. I've been tracking mpgs in Fuelly and my best so far is 15.4. That's probably close to 90% highway, but it also included a lot of 75mph+ driving. I could probably get a little better if I tried, but I tend to have a heavy foot and I really like the sound of that 5.7 lol. :burnrubber:

I think most are talking about single highway trips. Not overall fuel average.

That makes sense. My computer is always off, so I’m not sure how accurate my trip summaries would be.

12.1 but I get 9 or 10 email alerts I'm traveling over 90 mph everyday. One speed in this truck.

Freeway flat, cruise at 67-68, you can achieve 21.5mpg. I’ve done it.

Hills will bring that down into the 18’s.

Anything over 68 and your mileage will max about 17.5. Traffic, stopping, and idling will get your into the 15’s.

Since I have been warming the truck up in the morning, I can’t do much better than 16mpg.

Wish my truck would do that. My best tank was 18.8 driving across state at about 65 mph on the freeway and favorable winds. The dashboard guess-o-puter thought I was getting 20+ but that thing is always reading high. Is yours a flex fuel? I've wondered for a while if there's an efficiency loss due to the FFV larger injectors.

I was able to the get the Fit to near 50 mpg and the 4.0L Tacoma to mid 20s without issue. This truck is an enigma. Drive like a madman? 14 mpg. Hypermile the funky buttlovin out of it? 15 mpg. Want to slow a bit? Nah, no fuel cut this time, need brakes. Want a longer coast? Fuel cut is NOW and need to push the gas again. Want to do some hang time? Let off the throttle, inst mpg goes from 18 to 50, cool let's coast it out; oh wait, I didn't move my foot again at all, now it's reading 35... 25... 19 WTF

I have noticed going down hills it sometimes cant make up its mind, not sure if its fluke but on steeper hills if I hit my brakes at the top of the hill it downshifts and compression brakes wheras if I just let off the gas it holds gear and coasts. I dont really drive this way though unless I'm just seeing how the truck works. I accelerate going downhills and slow down going up - when traffic permits.

I’ve been averaging about 12.5 mpg so far. That’s mostly city driving though, I haven’t had a chance to take it on a road trip yet.

No, mine is non-flex. I still have the showroom Michelin’s, and I have only added a little weight with leather, underseat storage, and the stuff I have stashed in it.

I can usually get 17.1 on trip longer than 100 miles...but that's really light footed.

What are you basing that on?

The computer only reads total mileage and usage. So if you drove 3000 miles in the city and averaged 13mpg and then got on the highway and drove 200 miles it's not going to change the reading on the computer unless you reset it. Rest assured, you're getting better than 12.7mpg on the highway though. It sounds like based on your driving however that you're not averaging highway speeds enough to offset the lower mpg results.

I reset my trip meter every gas tank and calculate my mileage. I just filled up today, and my tank was mixed driving and I got 14.3 L/100km which I’m happy with. My 20 mpg number was for straight highway driving. In the summer under ideal weather etc I will likely get around 18 mpg of mixed driving after each tank. I calculate fuel economy at very fill up, that’s what I base my numbers on.

interestingly, when I got my truck it would routinely read 0.7 L/100km better on my display than I was calculating, but the past 2 tanks it’s actually reading Worse than I’m calculating at fillup. Either my driving habits have improved or the calculator has been somehow adjusted to the trucks new driver? Don’t know but I’ve been happily surprised the past couple times!

I pretty much get 15 MPG no matter what without towing. I took it easy and I laid into it and kept up with traffic. If a S&B CAI and exhaust will provide better then, I'm all in for that. On the way back to Oregon from Utah for Christmas, speeds are a little higher than usual. On the way back, I held all speeds limits. No change in mileage. I drove for hours at a hondo just keeping up with traffic. Love being able to do that...

Drove my 2016 Tacoma TRD Off Road 4X4 to Macon GA from my house, approx. 125 miles one way. Arrived at the Toyota Dealership there and got 25.8 MPG with that 3.5 LT 6 speed auto. Then drove back home in the new Tundra TRD Pro in a pouring down rain storm. When I turned the truck off in my garage, it showed Average Fuel Economy 18.9 MPG. I was pleasantly surprised. The PRO does have true dual exhaust, which may help this truck get a little better MPG. After driving around town the past few days, it seems to be hanging right there around 17. I can live with that.
