congrats on the new truck, it looks great!

Strange, our 2018 KR is still tight, and rattle free, as are the other F150s in the family. With a flat rear cabin floor your dog can sit in the back with the seat folded. its flat, and clear of obstructions, a thoughtful design. The tundra design is awful. I am not familiar with 8' bed combinations, didnt shop them. In my post I said "almost limitless", there are still more combinations with F150 than tundra.

Ok Gene! Tough old man, who is so stubborn he’s going to “have his last truck” be one that “lasts for the next 5 years when I go to Boot Hill.”

All modern trucks will go atleast 10 problem free.

@TundraLaw, Nice Truck!! I had an older (2002) Dodge 2500 with the Cummins Diesel. Only had one "rattle" issue with it during the time I owned it (100K miles). So happened that a tech at the dealer had fixed the same noise on another truck and fixed mine for free!! Ended up being something underneath the truck.

However... I did have lots of costly (would have been costly if not under warranty) repairs on the fuel system. Unless they have changed the lift pumps and injector pump designs on those truck you can expect some problems. Injector pumps on diesel trucks are not cheap. Hope you have good results ... oh, the color is nice too.

Please post back after a few thousand miles of ownership.

Thanks! Will do. Part of the reason I went with Ram is I have a good personal relationship with the family that owns the dealership. They’ll take care of those issues when they arise.

looking forward to better mpg, and getting to know and tinker with Diesel engines. Like the idea of bio diesel too.

Be careful with the Bio diesel if the truck sits for extended times or you go awhile between fill ups. I drive a semi and up north where Bio is common, it is not Uncommon to have a film of alge growing on the inside of the tanks. Our northern trucks get a fuel tank flush and pressure wash every year. Might not be as bad with regular bio diesel, but the truck stop stuff has so much junk added to it.

Some not all modern trucks. People think when they buy a new truck its going to last them 5 plus years wrong... F150 eco boost not 5.0 are problematic no matter how you look at it. Ram and gm quality is shit from personal experience. Ford in general has some quailty control issues to. The ecoboost engines are made in Mexico...

The 5.0 has been more problematic than the 3.5EB the last couple years due to the plastic oil pan and plasma lined cylinders.

covered that already, you'll have to read.
But you dont have to take my word for it, just go to the website, compare the specs, options, safety data, features and you'll find the tundra coming in....mostly last.

is that right? do you have any factual data to back that up besides some internet posts and a TSB that changes the dipstick on some of the 5.0s? I own one, with another on the way. So i can tell you, that it does not exhibit said problem. How about those tundra cam towers?

So the fact that you haven't had any issues with your one year old F150 proves that no one anywhere has ever had an issue with theirs?

Since I read pretty much anything related to trucks that I can get my hands on, I can't remember where I first read about it but it was confirmed by some guys on an F150 forum. I assure you I didn't make it up in some kind of attempt to make you feel bad about your truck.

Hmm .... reason i have my third Tundra is because of its reliability which happens to score 75/100 unlike the mighty f150 thats you glorify here on the Tundra forum .I could care less about fords fancy tech. What i have in my Limited Tundra is more than i need everything else is just gimmicks. BTW even if f150 scored 100/100 on reliability I won’t ever own one simply because that ford emblem makes me want to throw up:crapstorm:

He probably wouldn't take much of a hit on resale of the Dodge being that it's a 2500 Cummins diesel. They hold their value well compared to the hemi.

After reading many of the posts in this thread, I guess I consider myself fortunate with the two tundras I have owned. My first, a 2013 2wd Base model had ZERO issues. I just traded it in on a 2018 1794 4wd. I have experienced NONE of the failures talked about in this thread. Looks like mine was built on a Wednesday.

Most of us, if not all of us have that. Very discomforting if I may say, makes a solid vehicle feel cheap and poorly put together.

@TundraLaw That's a smokin' deal! I don't know how the dealership makes money with those numbers. Anyway congrats. I came from a Duramax before buying this Tundra and even though I don't need a diesel anymore I miss the sound and power of the diesel engine. I wish the emissions systems on diesels was more reliable because I would probably consider another one, most likely a Cummins equipped Ram.

Every manufacturer has their issues. No one is perfect. I had my 2018 tundra bought back under the lemon law but I’m not bashing Toyota. They actually gave me a great deal on my 2019 because I stayed with them.
