    Just discovered this thread. Awesome. I enjoy turning wood into noise and sawdust, and sometimes I actually produce something:20170908_063038.jpg 20170208_181609.jpg 20171216_154120.jpg

    Old dartboard surround in recroom for when kids missed the board all the time:
    IMG_20191103_153337.jpg

    A rustic dartboard backing made from an old pallet we had something delivered on. It was already the correct size, weathered and I just had to slim it down, add shelf for darts and put a new hanger on for the board. It's been on my to-do list for a couple years now and was so easy, not sure why I waited so long.

    The best part....FREE!!!!

    @BravoDeltaRomeo

    I just got a dart board for Christmas and I was planning on building a full dart cabinet but yours looks great and would be much easier. Thanks for posting.

    This is my next project. My wife decided to redo the dining room and sent me this pic. I'm going use wide plank oak for the top. The table will be 9.5ft long and about 40 inches wide. I'll post some pics when its done.

    My wife wanted a new bed so we went ahead and built one. Overall cost was about $250 in material and a lot of man hours. It was easy for the most part but tedious. IMG_20191223_154909.jpg IMG_8567.jpg IMG_8580.jpg

    Built this for one of my local grandsons. Somewhat similar to some other furniture that his brothers have but with my embellishments. My daughter wanted a full size mattress but the room is relatively small. The 6 drawers under the mattress are roomy (21.5” x 22.5” x 9.5” inside) so he won’t need a dresser. Slides are heavy duty, full depth. Pine, mostly 5/4 thickness. Lots of dowel connections as well as pocket screws throughout. Minwax stain, satin polyurethane and a couple of coats of hand wax. Fabricated in my shop, test assembled at my house, disassembled, carted to my daughter’s house, re-assembled there.

    Nice work! What type of stain did you use? The colour came out great!

    20200128_073301.jpg I hit the lumber lottery. I made mention to a friend of a friend that I was planning to buy some rough sawn wood so I could make a dinning table. He is the owner of construction company that does mostly bridge work. He told me to stop by one of his jobsites to take a look at what he had. It was stacks and stacks of 3"x10"x8' of rough oak, pine, and what I think is hickory. He told me to fill the truck as many times as I wanted! The wood is used for shoring and most contracts won't allow pre used wood.

    Dude sweet score! Oak is rare in my parts. Alot of the old growth was cut down long ago. What style of table are you thinking?

    I built my workbench in 2016, used old beams that came from my house and wood from a old door that was in my basement for the bracing around the bottom. No metal was used just wood and glue.

    Noticed a issue with my table saw today. I have a jet jobsite saw with a stand. Its bigger than a standard bench top or portable saw. I was ripping a pine 1x10 and when I stopped pushing to reach for my push stick the cut was wider than the rest of the cut. I assumed I moved it from the fence but it happened a second time. This time I took a piece of scrap and stopped as I was cutting and it happened again. Changed the blade and it still happened. Bent arbor? I baby my stuff and never had a problem before.

    Working on it!
    There's not a lot of home workshop options with planers anymore - Dewalt is about as good as you can get. I purchased a Delta (22-580) 13" many years ago when Delta was made in US and before they sold out. Still have and use it now...just flipped the original set of knives around on it last year.

    Jointers, IMHO, have a much better selection. I've had two 6" jointers - a Delta and Powermatic (now). The Delta motor gave out some time ago and could not afford to have it replaced, so I sold it as is. The Powermatic is pretty solid - wired the motor for 220V and it is a hoss. I would consider going to an 8" because it will allow you to buy wider slabs to glue up...plus my knives are straight, not helical. I've read some good things about the helical but never used one.

    Sorry for the late response, I just noticed your question. My wife did the staining, she said she did a mixture of minwax provincial and minwax weathered oak.

    @Fishman57

    I can't chime in on the jointer side of things but I have the Dewalt DW735X and it's great. I've only planed softwoods with it but they come out crazy smooth. Amazon had the best price on it usually for $499. Occasionally you can find it in sale for $500 with the free Dewalt stand. I would check your local craigslist and Facebook marketplace. I got mine used for $300 with the stand and it looked new.

    Sounds like little vibrations that make the piece float and then wander from the fence. Atleast thats what ive experienced on some saws. I also try to be ready with my push stick so i dont have to stop. Do you keep your left hand on the table and pressed as tight to the board and fence as possible? That would help.

    I'm not quite understanding what's going on. The cut is not lining up when you start and stop?

    I had a Ridgid 13" planer, it did alright but was low on power IMO. Loaned it to a friend. It got damaged in his use, a knot broke the blower fan blade. And got nasty planing cedar. I ordered parts but offered to buy me a brand-new one and him keep the old one or give me the money equivalent do I could put it towards a bigger better one. I was in my early stages of having my own cabinet shop. Less than 1yr at the time. Still early as it's only been since Dec. 2017. After some studying and weighing my options I ended up getting a Jet 15" with helical head. Jet happened to be running a 15%off sale around Thanksgiving. Been nothing but pleased with it. It runs soooo much quieter than the lunchbox type I had and is not short on power. At full capacity, you can easily talk over it. It has a mobile base which is a must for me also. I've run a couple thousand bd ft though it and still haven't turned a cutter. If you can afford it, don't hesitate wether or not on the up HH. My only wish is that I should of gotten a 20" w/ HH but that would be another $900. Next upgrade will either be a HH for the 6" jointer, or a real upgrade and get an 8in jointer with HH.

    I would check fence alignment. If your fence isnt supported at the top, material can move the fence outward as you push upward.
