Thanks. I haven't gotten around to the shackle flip kit yet. Work and life keep getting in the way. I will probably wait until I get new rear shocks. After doing more research, this is the flip kit I think I would go with. https://archivegarage.com/products/2000-2006-tundra-sfk I think you can get 1 to 1.5 inches of lift out if it .

I run AG shock relocation on my Tacoma. Their stuff is on point. He's also working on a relocation for the tundras now too.

Hey can you tell me where you got that leaf pack made? I’m in the market for a new leaf system.

I got them made at Sacramento spring. I live close enough where I was able to drop off my truck and hang out while they made them. It was a cool process watching them hand Forge the springs.

Did you ever do a shackle flip? I see the AG kit is NLA and I've come across very limited info for doing one on my truck shy of fabricating something from scratch.

No. I haven't gotten around to it yet. Mostly because I'm pretty happy with the ability of my custom leaf springs. I already have 11.5 inches of travel. I would like to get a flip kit one day but it has been put further down the list of importance. This is a good option if AG has discounted them.

So it's been a while sense I have posted anything in my build page. Here are some of the things I have done recently. New timing belt and water pump. I had a torn inner cv boot so I put on new high angle cv's and new oem lower ball joints. 20200625_163316.jpg
I replaced my headlights and bulbs due to the inevitable Sunrot. This is my trucks 3rd set of headlights. 20200313_111518.jpg
I also built a bed rack for my 10ft Jon Boat. It is made out of Unistrut and some scrape steel from my wife's old treadmill. It is low profile and side lifts so I can have full access to my bed with out taking the boat off the rack. The boat sets low enough so its below the cab line so it won't take away any mpg. I used two heavy duty unistrut adjustable braces for the hinges. Two 150 lb gas struts help lift the boat out of the way. I still have some adjustments to do. I think I'm going to move the gas struts out further to get a little more lift out of them. 20191001_173951.jpg 20191029_144242.jpg 20191029_144122.jpg 20191029_144139.jpg 20200211_163322.jpg 2020-02-17 15.47.07.jpg 20200516_151658.jpg 20200621_104839.jpg 20200621_104855.jpg 20191129_091924.jpg

Nice truck! How do you like the 4.88 gears? I been reading mixed opinions on rather to go with 4.56 or 4.88 for 35" tires. Also you said you had problems with your stock driveshaft? RCD website says the stock driveshaft retained but I thought that didn't sound right given the 4" lift in the rear.

I do like having it re geared with 4.88's. Although I only really drove it about a mile or two with 35's and stock gears. But having 35's with the 4.88's I can't tell much difference from when I had the stock tire size and stock gears. I actually I think it drives better then it did before I did the lift and bigger tires. My issue with the drive shaft was I had a chatter when I would take off from a stop. The rcd lift kit comes with a 1in drop spacers to lower the center carrier bearing. But it's really not enough. So I welded an additional inch of Steel to give it 2 inchs of drop to make the two-piece driveshaft more of a straight angle. I also used pinion angle shims to get the right pinion angle which helped a lot. But I still had a little bit of a chatter. That's when I decided to go with the one piece driveshaft. The only problem is newer Vehicles particularly the tundra are very precise with pinion angles. Even half a degree off and you can have issues. With the one piece driveshaft it eliminated my chatter from a stop but I do get a vibration around 90 miles an hour. But that's okay with me cuz I never really drive that fast. The weird thing is there's a old guy that lives down the road from me that has an 06 Access Cab with the 6-inch rcd lift. He told me he bought the brand new off the showroom floor with the 6-inch rcd lift already on it. He said he has had no issues with any vibration or chatter. He doesn't even know what gears are in it either. But he did say it's not lacking in power.

Do you remember if you had stock 3.91’s or 4.10’s?

Ok so ultimately the stock drive shaft will work you just hear a little bit of chatter on just acceleration? Did your mpg drop dramatically or not to much after the regear? Thanks!

Yes stock Driveline will work. The chatter I had I don't really think would cause any issues other than being annoying. My gas mileage actually stayed about the same if not a little bit better. But I do drive my truck like an old man. Slow accelerations and I don't speed very much. It's actually kind of hard to tell because since lifting my truck it has become a weekend warrior and not a daily driver. Every time I drive it I seem to have either a boat and a bunch of camping gear in the bed or I'm towing one of my other boats or out 4 wheeling.

They are 17x9 with 4.5in backspace -12 offset. The lift kit suggest having a 4-inch backspacing. I read reviews though saying there still might be some rubbing on the frame so 1 Inch spacers are suggested. So I decided to go with a 4 1/2 inch backspacing with a 1-inch spacer. This way I'm only a half an inch over the recommended versus a whole inch. If that makes sense.

Glad you responded, I was speaking with a representative that sells the RCD lift kit and he told me the reason to go with 4” back spacing is because it would be rubbing on the steering right which he means the tire and the knuckle would be rubbing but I didn’t believe him because I have 4.5” back spacing on my current rims but or course maybe he suggested that was because a new spindle was coming into play and that’s why maybe it was 4” back spacing but I remembered that you have the lift kit and so I wanted your input on what rims you have, I was planning on doing 18x9 4.53 backspacing with -12 offset on 305/65/18 tires. I don’t mind the rubbing on the frame since I’m already rubbing on the frame currently with my 285/75/16. So my question is does your 35” tires rub onto the knuckle, does it make contact with any suspension components, I don’t mind the rubbing on frame.

For you 1” spacer, you don’t rub correct?

I did have to take off my front mudflaps, and trim the corner of the front bumper. I do still rub just a hair on the corner of the wheelwell where the mud flap was. But that was only when my tires were brand new. Other then that I don't rub on anything else. 2020-08-06 19.18.23.jpg

Awesome, I was just concerned because I didn’t want any suspension components rubbing onto the rim or tire since the representative was freaking me out a bit cause I was going for 4.5” backspacing rather than 4” on what they recommend

You should be good with 4.5 backspace but you will need a 1in spacer. I think 3.5 backspace is the best size if you don't want spacers. I only went this route because I got a killer deal on my wheels.

I don’t want spacers because I’ve heard they tend the break due to so much stress, I don’t mind the rubbing on the frame if that’s what your implying to get a 1” spacer but my brother does want spacers, has your failed on you or? What do you recommend if I do go with that route and as well is your set up leveled with the fender flares or the rims and tires sticking out from the fender flares?

I have not had any issues with my 1in spacers. Most of the issues with spacers come from people with 3in+ spacers on heavier trucks. Or people that forget to retorque there spacers on every tire rotation. Imo pushing out the tire puts the same amount of stress one the wheel bearing weather it from the wheel or the spacer. My tires do stick out about a inch. This is the best pics I have of how much.Screenshot_2020-08-06-20-04-49.jpg 20180527_152548.jpg 20181010_154926.jpg

I would definitely recommend putting new lower ball joints in. If you do decide to go with the rcd.

Oh okay great then that’s definitely an option for the spacers and yeah I’m going to put new ball joints. I had two break on me already in 2 years because my suspension isn’t made for a lift kit so it’s putting a lot of stress onto the ball joints. Thank you so much for replying, very much appreciated. Have a great day man. Love your build

Sick trucks fellas. Im wondering if you can help a rookie out. BrownBear: for sake of convo, I basically have your exact truck ( limited not SR5 tho), and its all stock.

The shocks are 20 yrs old obviously, and front sags. I want it as level as possible but ppl are telling me putting spacers on can have long term consequence. A level kit could potenitially work but doesnt help w my need for shocks. I was hoping I could achieve both with just the right set of shocks.

Considering i want to improve shock absoorbtion on the road + level/lift the front -- would you have any Recs for me at all? Im gettting so much mixed recs from people that have never worked on my truck model in the first place. I do not want to degrade drive quality at all.

I dont need a huge lift and trying to drop no more than 1000-1500 on this for now ( gotta save for a canopy + rack system).

THese are the two I have come down too ( see below). MOST have recommended these bilsteins but they say i can lift it any higher than 1.5 " due to some reason specific to my make n model --- Does that make sense??

    Bilstein -- https://www.1stgenoffroad.com/store/p769/Bilstein/OMELiftLevelKit.html#/

    rough country -- https://www.customwheeloffset.com/s...?year=2002&make=Toyota&model=Tundra&drive=4WD

is RC good quality -- do you know?

    Thanks for your consideration

Does the 35’s rub? I’m planning on doing the same 6” maybe a little higher lift with the coil overs I’m getting.... I see that you cut the front lower bumper and I did the same to mines but I’m wondering if the rear part of the the front fender will rub... I am going with 14” rims also so I’m pretty sure that’s a little different then your set up. Beautiful truck tho

What's your plan for accomplishing this? 13WL calipers barely clear 16" wheels + weights and I don't think 13WEs would clear 15" wheels.
