texas winter fuel blend

hey guys,

Is there a winter fuel blend in texas? I am curious because it seams that my gas mileage has dropped about 2mpg. I was getting in the 16's, but now I am getting in the 14's. my truck is stock, 10k miles, and I haven't changed my driving habits or routes. There is definitely no lack of power; the truck runs like a champ.

Do any of you guys notice a MPG drop in the winter months?

I dunno. I haven't reset my MPG since the day I got it. Has 10K now and showing 16.

Ha, today we do. 32 when I woke up, "feels like" 20. Yesterday was near 70, ha.

 

I lived there for 16 years and seen snow once in 3rd grade HAHA. I wasn't really sure what a winter was until I went to basic training in Illinois in November.

 

Tire pressure? Doesn't cold air make tires shrink?

 

Cold air wont make the tires shrink, but it will cause them to deflate a bit. So in a sense, ya.

You have more ethanol in your fuel. Yes you lose about 2mpg with it and it's a big water magnet..

Besides that it will burn normal.

 

So I should be good with 100% gas then?

 

If you can ethanol free gas then yeah go for it. More efficient but higher cost may offset that

 

It's your choice pro vs cons in it.

IMO it might not better running 100% gas if you can only offset the price difference between fill ups.

 

Like aramirez73 said, check your tires pressure. The change from warm to cool temperatures will make the air deflate. That's one thing I always check frequently, and my oil when I fill up.
