New rotors help....OEM with TRD pads or Powerstops

    Alot of them
    So I'm finally over my brakes and shaking issues at speed when I apply the brakes. My current kit is the Powerstop Z23. Should I go with the Powerstop Z36 kit or OEM rotors with TRD pads? I like the Frozen rotors that are cryo treated but they are expensive. I am open to suggestions of course. :)

    I'd stick with OEM rotors and TRD pads. These trucks come with some beefy rotors and from what I've seen/researched, the slotted rotors don't do THAT much more to improve stopping and not worth the money. Just my 0.2 cents.

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
    I have powerstop rotors w/angled vanes and slots w/their ceramic pads. The angled vanes catch air and push it into the center for added cooling. I don't like drilled rotors, I can feel the holes as I stop. The slots are for water dispersion not to improve stopping or cooling.

    I suggest the Z36 package.

    A few weeks ago I installed the power stop z36 package. Was an easy install and really like them.

    I was having the shaking issue with OEMs that everyone is talking about after. 30,000 miles. I didn’t want to do OEMs again because of that.

    I don’t tow, but I go into the mountains with a full truck-bed full of gear so went with the heavier duty z36 vs the z23s.

    I’ve had the same problem for years and the best solution I’ve found is the OEM rotors, TRD pads and have a shop that can turn the rotors on the truck turn them. It sounds crazy, but they’ll last for years this way. Something about the hubcentric design doesn’t let them seat against the hub perfectly. So turning them on the truck gives a perfect alignment and no more hot spots.

    I had OEM on my '07 and it always had problems with vibration during braking, even after turning and balancing the tires. Now I didn't have it turned on the truck, so that may have made a huge difference. My '14 had almost perfect OEM front rotors, but some idiot didn't seat the rears very well and it pushed the metal clip into the rotor. By the time I got the truck there was a quarter inch groove in the rotor. I read a lot before pulling the trigger on new brakes. I looked at just rear OEMs and it wasn't much less than the front and rear PowerStop Z36 with pads. In all my research I found some complaints about how the Z23 is a little light for our trucks, even just normal city driving, I believe it was on another forum.

    Once I had them seated per the instructions for installation they were great. I have had them on for about a month and a half now, only maybe 400 miles, but mostly city. They tend to be softer braking under light pressure while traveling the City than the OEM, but if I jam on them really hard, they stop faster than OEM it seems. Haven't had a chance to tow, or use them up canyons (steep grade).
