    Hello everyone,

I haven't found any up to date info on how to remove rear seats from dual cab therefore this topic. This is how it looks like in the end:
    20191229_173948 - Copy.jpg

To remove the seats (completely), you'll need 14mm socket and an extra pair of hands.
I found this PDF (attached), which describes the process pretty well. However, I'm going to add couple of pics to clarify the process.

    1. Unscrew 6 bolts holding the base (single lines on the pic below) and 3 bolts holding the seat belts (double lines).
    bolts.jpg

    2. Seat is kept in place by 2 pins (marked with arrows on the pic above) and 4 hooks at the top (marked with circles).
    Closer look at the pins:
    pins.jpg
    Closer look at the hooks:
    back hooks.jpg back hooks 2.jpg

    3. Make sure that the seat belt in the middle is not attached to the seat. You need to lift the whole bench vertically up for at least 2.5' (that's where extra pair of hands will be very handy). Be careful with those 2 pins as you can easily scratch the paint or tear the carpet.

That's it. So much more space.

Why did you remove the seats? What are you going to do with the space?

I was expecting any question but this...
Because I'm not using rear seats? I can put 2nd battery system there, and water supply in horizontal tanks. And fridge, until I find some drawers for the bed. Also cabin is sort of more weatherproof than the bed with 200$ cover. Camper is in todo list.

Thanks! This will actually help a ton when I get my Tundy in the near future. Any updates on what you may have put back there?

Just finished the milestone. Fridge and 2nd battery. I'm also planning to add a drawer over the battery and a 2nd one between the fridge and the seat.
Floor is 2/3, I didn't want to cut the jack mount. Battery is attached too the very corner.

PS: 3/4 plywood is too much. Also floor paint was a bad decision, carpet ftw.

Electrical: 100Ah deep cycle, 25A Redarc charger and 400W inverter. Will be adding a solar blanket, fridge dries out the battery in 24h and to charge it I have to move. A lot.

    Fridge Snomaster 56D.

Pps: first diy project of this magnitude.

Hey, new to the tundras community. @istr any chance you could post more photos of your set up? I'm looking to do something very similar.

Debating leaving the passenger side single seat in just in case. What would are the dimensions of the usable area in your truck with the seats out?

    Thanks

Currently researching doing something similar for my CrewMax. I wonder how different the fasteners are from the DC to the CM? My plan is to put my ARB 50qt where the 40% rear seat is. Did you get the impression you could remove one section of the rear seat and leave the rest? Thanks for any insight. Searches aren't going well. Nice work, by the way.

Hehehe. I slept on the backseat of my 07 dc for about 4 months. It sucked because You just can t stretch out completely. I ve been in the process of making a bed in the cab for some time. I have all but drivers seat out atm, but as soon as I grind off some of the stops on the passenger seat, so I can recline it all the way to the floor, I will re install it. I then will build a platform that will sit over the reclined seat. I planned on leaving seat out, but the airbags are disabled when you disconnect seat. If someone knew how to bypass the passenger seat that would rock.

    Not me.

When I got rid of the truck it took me less than an hour to make it stock again.
I only make these mods so that they do not detract in any way from the original setup of the vehicle, notice I didnt even relocate the Jack and Tools.

At the same time everything bolts down tight to factory attachment points for safety too!

Not sure about the hardware on the CM but I was able to take out the 40 seat on my DC so I imagine it can't be too different on the CM. But someone with a CM will have to come in.

This is great and what I've been looking for. Did you remove or some how unhook the middle seatbelt, the one you can't just unclip and push through the seat? I can't figure anyway to do this except to remove the belt from the bolting to the base (near the retractor). I think you've done that, because I don't see it still bolted there.

I've contemplated removing the rear seats entirely as well but opted to only remove the single passenger side seat. I was able to fit a Dometic 75L fridge behind the front seat and still have enoug leg room for a normal sized passenger. 20201222_160347.jpg

Solar is on my list of future mods but after going with a 27f X2 battery it's now nowhere near the top. I can run this fridge for 2-2.5 days before it reaches the medium battery voltage limit and still start the truck.

You may want to consider upgrading the fridge before doing solar, unless the fridge isn't the only reason for it.

How did you keep the 2 seat side mounted in without the single side bracket? I'm wanting to do the same for fridge room on mine.

Retained the original bracket but trimmed off enough to clear the fridge.

Do the seat back/bottom detach easily from the bracket? I'd like to make it reversible so that I can put the single seat back in if needed so I can't go cutting them apart. Might have to be like @Wallygator and source a spare seat to cut up.

The trimming i did still allows for the single seat to be used by itself. I just removed excess material.

Okay I was making this way too difficult without taking the seat out to just look at it for myself. The seat back and bottom simply unbolt from the seat brackets. 2x 18mm headed hex, 1 t40 torx. Bolt the brackets back in and fridge sits on the underseat organizer with enough opening room to take the basket in and out now. Thanks!

Can you remove just the 40? Looks like the 60 has to use the base of the 40 to stay put

When I search a topic and find my old post lol

So I'm thinking you are stuck with this extra mount sticking out?

Can you remove the 60 only instead of the 40?
