I installed the Toyota Bed Light kit today. This is the South East Toyota Bed light Kit part #0016-34187. I can't tell the difference between this and the Toyota part#PT94835160 other than about $50.00 in my favor.

The instructions are good, only needed a couple of clarifications for the 2020 model year:

    Instructions are attached.

The kit comes with the following:

    20191229_083419.jpg
    20191229_083440.jpg
    20191229_083456(1).jpg

Templates from the instructions were spot on for the holes:

    20191229_083719.jpg
    20191229_083723.jpg

The bed lights prior to mounting and post mounting:

    20191229_090829.jpg
    20191229_090833.jpg

A little different from the instructions is that a screw cap holds the carpet and the corner kick panel trim piece in place on both driver's and passenger sides. Once you remove that the trim cover may be removed and carpet pulled up:

    20191229_084316.jpg

Here are the two tap connectors in place. These pictures are better than ones in the instructions for reference:

    20191229_104310.jpg

Other than these few pics, all else is straight forward. Took me about two hours by myself taking my time and routing the harness to my liking on the passenger side.

Looks good. I need to add lights to mine as well. Seems like a decent kit.

Great quality pics! What size fuse do they include?

Does it have a switch in the bed and cab?

The LED Bed Light should illuminate with
    any of the following actions:

    • Door is opened
    • Cargo light is illuminated
    • Key FOB is used to unlock doors

Thanks. How long do they stay on when the key FOB is used? And do they fade out?

Fantastic post OP. Thanks for thinking of all of us, for $80, this is a solid mod. I’m absolutely terrible with electrical. Not sure if I can tackle this one but may try because of this post.

Thanks OP. You saved my day!! I was installing mine earlier today and found out the installation guide shows the wire connection for 2018 which is totally different than what I have on my 2019
By the way, How do you figure out which wires to tap to?

What's the difference between the part number OP gave and this one?

00016-34089 looks the same to me and is 67$ on eBay

I installed the tailgate locking kit that used the passenger side grommet. It looks like there's a similar grommet on the driver side. Can I route this kit through that grommet instead? Seems odd they used the passenger side in the first place only to route it to the driver side.

What color temp are the lights? Are they a cool white or a warm white?

I don't see why you couldn't run them thru the driver's side.
Just be careful poking the driver's side grommet from the top, the fuel lines are right under that grommet from what I remember..
I had to run my Amp step lights thru it.

Not the best pics but this is what I have.
Pics taken under my bed cover.
I installed one in front and one in the rear because of my swing case.

I'd say more of a cool white than a warm white..
Cooler and whiter than my cargo bulbs in the pic.
But those might have been stock bulbs in the cargo light before I replaced them with LEDs ..

Crawled under the truck quick and now I see why they run it on the passenger side. The driver side doesn't have a good place to zip-tie the wires to get to the driver seat grommet.

Looks like theres another grommet under the rear seat on both driver and passenger sides. Does anyone have a picture of where those holes come out inside? I can probably run the wire the rest of the way under the plastic sills, but I'd like to see what I'm dealing with before I start tearing into things. Or is there a better way I'm not thinking of? Can I get directly into the sills?

Thanks for the pictures! That helps a lot, especially on the color temp. If I install these I might be forced to spend more money on some color matched LEDs for the cargo light. :D

How do you like the Matt gecko kit? I’m seriously considering it since I’ll probably be adding the swinging storage bin for my 2017. Pics??

I'm late to the party on this one but I just installed these lights on my 2021 Crewmax. I will be adding a switch in the hole above the light on the left side (doesn't matter what side) so that I can turn these lights on without opening the door or using the remote. This will also ground the relay for the cargo light and turn the cargo light on as well.

These lights are very well made and the install was easy, although there is just too much excess wiring you have to bundle up and zip tie under the truck. I may shorten the harnesses at some point, but for now they're fine.

i bought them from Sparks Toyota in South Carolina. I believe they were around $80 and shipping was quick, they are good people to do business with from what I gather.

After drilling into the bed, did you guys dab some paint into the holes to prevent rust? The instructions mentioned body sealant, but I would probably add some rustolium for added protection.

For those curious about the Toyota version (PT948-34170) I installed this kit on my 2014 Tundra two weeks ago. A couple of differences I noted (vs the SET kit):
    1. You need to drill a larger hole (1 1/8 inch) as there is a rubber grommet protecting the wires behind each light pod.
    2. There is a visible brownish water proof sealant behind each light pod.
    3. The entire wire loom is protected with black tape.
    4. Part of the wire loom has a heat shield.
    5. Wire length is an exact fit, no excess wiring left over.
    6. 2 red wire taps of a different style are provided.
    7. You tap into the ground wire behind the cargo light switch instead of next to the ground bolt.
    8. Foam tape for protecting/routing the wire inside the cab is provided.
    9. Removing the front seats and the center console are part of the instructions.
    10. Kit was designed only for 2017 & up Tundras, but it still fits the 2014- 2016 (only the wiring is different).
    11. Lastly, it costs about twice as much lol

    53C3662A-F4A1-4AC6-AC2F-4E17DC97DA7E.jpg

I followed the Toyota instructions with 3 exceptions.
    1. I used a black touch up paint kit instead of the 3M ultra pro body sealant for the holes I drilled.
    2. I routed the wiring around the passenger foam floor insulation pad instead of under it.
    3. I tapped into a brown wire in the DC connector for power (no 3H connector in 2014-2016).

This kit works perfectly, the bed lights always come on when the cargo light is on. Do I recommend this over the SET version... it depends. For most people, probably not. It's more expensive and more work to install. But for others, the Toyota version is a very well built kit.
