This is not my photo, as I did not have my phone handy at the time... but this is what crawled out of my burn pile when I lit it up this afternoon. Wasn't expecting one of these in late December. My labrador almost got too close. I would have dispatched it but it made it to my barn... well, under it, while I was putting the dogs out of harms way. It wasn't moving real fast. Surprised the hell out of me..LOL

    Where there's one, there's two.

Too bad you couldn't kill it [like you don't that:D]: if you ever do, leave it where you killed it for a day and check back later for it's mate.

They'll sometimes come to the dead snake.

There are so many hawks where I live that we rarely see any snakes. My burn pile was about 5' tall and about 12' wide... full of leaves and branches. Guess he had a spot underneath it all??? It has been warm for a couple of days here.

What makes it an e-reptile? Is this a new product from the good folks at Tesla? Is it compatible with the current quick charging station network? How much to reserve my order? It'll look boss on the dash of my Tesla trucky!

We used to have them in Kansas. They like to be underground there. It's probably warm enough where you are that they can stay above ground.:notsure:

Keep something handy to kill them [long handled ice chipper or shovel or something where you can quickly get to it]. .410 shotgun would be great.

    Get 'em.:violent:

We were death to them near the house.

We have plenty of these and other rattlers around the Hill Country. I've been fortunate not to have come across any in 20 years here. My big concern is with my hearing loss from flying those Hueys in 'Nam. And it's getting worse with age. I'd probably probably step on the dang rattler before I could hear it. You can bet I do watch where I'm stepping.
