I may be way late on this, but don't just accept what they 'have available'. If you don't see something you like, don't rush it. Guarantee in a few days they will find an opening for you for what you want.

What was your MOS again? If your getting orders in January I’m assuming your almost done with C school and about to hit the fleet.

Good luck and fingers crossed you get orders where you want.

Congrats and welcome to the family Marine! You'll never regret it.

Now remember something. That little red and yellow ribbon that you have... well... it's kind of a secret. Don't tell anyone but...

Well well well… it’s been two years. I’m an E4 (Corporal) now. I’m setting myself up for a meritorious sergeant board, planning on submitting a Drill Instructor package with my reenlistment, and the tundra is long gone! Here’s the new whip COMMENCE THE TRUCK SLANDER :rofl:

Man, how time flies! Seems like you were just heading off to boot. Definitely on a fast track to Sgt. I made Sgt in 3 but you have to work your butt off. You'll make it. Where are you stationed currently?

I was waiting for the truck slander AHAHAH but fellas i grew up with my dad having Chevy trucks all my life and I just always loved them. I love the tundras too, but Chevy’s have a sentimental value, and I wanted to get something I WANTED, you know?

I’m stationed in Cali, My mos is a 1341, heavy equipment mechanic. I absolutely love it. I work on dozers, forked equipment, backhoes, skidsteers, and graders. Anything from the hydraulics, Diesel engine, attachments, cab swaps (unarmored to armored or vise Versa) and all the little regular maintenance included with it. I just got back from Australia which was a paid vacation, I didn’t work a single day over there, oh and …… I also didn’t save a dime  I mean come on AUSTRALIA?? I was exploring and seeing the sites, and it was expensive. I made the best of it.

As for the girlfriend, we had a bit of an on and off because of me being stupid ( I didn’t do anything unloyal or unfaithful, I just had it in my mind that I wanted to be single at one point) and I did put a ring on it at one point as well, but we split for about 8 months after that. Then we got in contact and started from the very beginning again, taking our time, and not rushing anything. Now we’re together again, but we’re taking our time this time, she’s getting ready to graduate college, and Like I said I’m trying to get promoted as well as get selected for DI. So we’re still at the same stage as before, but it’s definitely much stronger and we’re doing even better.

Yes! I was actually considering it for a while. Ultimately I stopped because I enjoyed my job so much. Something about engines and machinery that excites me
