Maybe there's already a thread, but I'm surprised this place isn't all a bustle with the 4runner recovery....er lack of....going on in Nevada.

Already been going on since last night. I can't even begin to update at this point. It's a disaster. I fear for others that are going to attempt a recovery.

Realistically professionals should be called in with equipment. Multiple built rigs with 40"+ tires went out last night. Only ended up getting stuck and didn't move the runner 1".

I saw a guy get out of a similar situation by burying a spare tire and winching to it. Doesn't look lile the ground is firm enough here.

He just needs an earth anchor. Looks like a plow. Not too hard to fab up if you have a welder.

Is that ice in the picture? So it's below freezing there in that muck? Nuts. Talk about the Land of Suck.

Seriously, I don't get why its such a problem. Earth anchor (or three) and winch, should be simply, if messy. In a pinch, a shovel and a log will do it.

According to an overland IG page multiple people have gotten stuck trying to get him out. Even a few mentions of helicopter or someone taking out 20 sheets of plywood or whatever to lay down to get him up on.

Yeah atleast they made it out there to him to get him out. And it looks real bad I’m sure it’s even worse than it looks. I feel like with an anchor by the time you dig down past the mud the anchor point would be too deep down and you’d be pulling the 4Runner down further into mud. Also the trucks that went out to him looked very well equipped

I only know this because I've been glued to it. Real life drama and problem solving. I found out about this through a friend at 5am. I have resources, but none that can help him where he is.

The 1st group was a lot of well equip'd rigs and smart guys. They were on site for hours. It's an ice cold oatmeal ground soup substance. There is no base, you can dig and it gets less soupy, but still just muck.

They're 100-150yds away from anything that can be considered "solid". But really almost 1000' away from an anchor or somewhere that rigs won't just slide.

It takes 3-4 hours off pavement just to get to the shitty area. And apparently that road is also bad/worse.

Every option has been talked about and arm chaired at this point, Helo, snow cat, 7 ton wrecker, etc.... There is a more prepared element going out Saturday AM. I'm confident they'll get it out.

I don’t have FB so I’ll just check back here and see how it goes.
Would love to see pics or video if they have to do it by helicopter. I couldn’t imagine what it would cost to get a bird out there to do it.

A few hundred yards of rope and out he comes?? Looks like a mess. Last I heard they got everyone out (people) and the other stuck vehicles and making plans to go back in a day or two??

Nobody has an air jack? I’d think that with a tug from the rear and the driver pinning it would do the trick but who knows.

    Anyone have a cat d11?

When someone on the deer lease gets stuck like that in central texas, there is only One thing to do.

Wait 3-4 days (without rain) and return then otherwise the same thing happens, only more vehicles stuck to deal with later.

In hindsight, its lots of funny stories to laugh at!

Luck and enjoy those Toyotas. : ^ )))
