After 3 months of drying, wiping down, and lightly applying.. I have a solution that blends perfectly with our butter soft, easily marred interior door skin.

In flat black, and without prep, I have applied a few light dusting like coats over areas that looked horrible.

It passed the garage light AND sunlight test for masking over these blemishes. Its actually fairly durable too. Let it dry 24 hrs between light coats.

Hobby Lobby has it. I was using it for a school project a year ago.

    Enjoy.

    BTW.
I've used a grease pencil, shoe polish, a crayon, permanent marker.. the works. Even some expensive trim black restorer. Nothing works better than this

    Thought I'd share.

Sorry guys.. I'll take some pictures of the door. I don't have before pics however. I've been busy at the gun range. I'll post em soon.
As far as technique, light coats horizontally. Your dusting the area not strafing it. After three or so applications with a 24hr rest between, your golden.

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.
    Noice!
Any top coat of any kind?

Also, have you tried any interior cleaner/wipes? Just curious how it will/does hold up?

I got some super glue stuck on my dash and when I cleaned it off with progressively harsh cleaners I ended up with a big flat looking spot an an off texture. I was able to revive it to unnoticeable using careful light sweeping application of a heat gun on low temp with lots of cool off time between a couple sessions. I would recommend trying that to minimize the white appearance of scratches on interior panels too.

No topcoat, and as mentioned it's a simple craft paint. 24 hrs between light coats is ideal for the same low gloss coverage.

When I go to the car wash, I use a yellow Costco microfiber towel (actually two) and spot dry after the blowers. It's that damp towel that I use to wipe down the interior with. The door interiors are no exception. The picture was taken a couple of days ago and after maybe 10 weekly washes? No issues.

    * Interior wipedown is for dust and NO elbow grease! Casual, quick and easy wipe. It's been my experience that any marks from shoes, keys, guns, or accessories CANNOT be fixed by a towel or any dyes, ink, polish, etc. Heat guns (and Lord, I tried) are super risky. The finish goes from no change to disproportionately glossy in a second and can quickly ruin the straight finish of a door skin.

Are you taking the door panel off the truck when you apply the light coats, it seems overspray would float into the interior if not?

The Toyota plastics are absolute BS, I am careful with my truck and no matter what the panels are scratched for no good reason let alone using the truck as its designed.

I didn't take off the panel. The scratches were in the center. I am going to test it on the upper door trim on the passenger rear soon. I'm going to roll the window down and simply mask it. If you look closely on yours you'll see paint loss on the lower doors where the plastic contacts steel. It's not ideal but it is standard across manufacturers.
